Now I know you came here thinkin this is a "HEY I NEED HELP, IM BORED OF MAPLESTORY BUT I FEEL COMPELLED TO PLAY ANYWAY." But no it's not anything like that. Instead it's something a lil more generic. I was hacked, yeah same ole story right?
I swear february is not the best month for me as this happened last year 3 days within eachother. Anyway I'm not asking for anything but a little brainstorming. I don't know how it happened, I honestly don't.
Normally it's a keylog, normally it's account sharing, or last year, someone doing an account retrieval on your email. Not in this case, in fact I don't know how it happened. This is the information, I do have:
-It cannot be a keylog, I scanned to even double check, the player could not access my account after I changed the password, could not access my msn, my skype, my email, pineapple I even logged in my bank account within those couple of hours. Nothing else was touched. It was just my dark knight, that's it.
-Account sharing is even more improbable. No one has my info, absolutely no one. Granted I was hacked last february, so my ID is probably out there, but nothing else is shared besides that.
-Email was untouched, like litterally not even a password change or pic change. No email's, no nothing.
Lastly how it happened. I was in henesys talking to a merchant who was offering for it while in a trade. When the trade was closed, my internet died. It was completely intentional, and it was not enough to show my connection was dead, on my wireless 4/5 bars were up, my land line was completely unchanged, however web browers, any internet applications, even on my ipod were lagged to the point where it couldn't connect to the DNS. 3 minutes go by I get my password changed and I was stripped, however no other characters, which saved me about 14b which I hid away.
Now my girlfriend, who's hotmail account has been inactivated for years and isn't connected too anything was hacked 3 days prior. I feel like someone targetted me but obviously different methods were used.
I have not seen any of my gear anywhere, like litterally, no where. My smiling mask is tagged and I have ss' of all my gear, it wouldn't be hard to find. No merchanters in 3 of the most popular worlds have* seen it, and the underhand merchants in our server have no idea where it went.
I can completely accept if it's human error, but I want to know, how? I would gladly come back, but I feel like an open victum in which it could simply just happen again. It's in the back of my mind, Maplestory is a game I genuinely enjoy, I'd like to come back, but it's not worth the risk if I don't know what could have happened.
