I have a theory
#1
Scenario: Broken relationship and friendship issues.
Persons involved: Man, Woman, Friend of either man/woman. Hereafter, Man will be represented by M, Woman by W, and Friend by F, for ease.

Say that M and W are together, and it's not a good relationship. One is abusive, manipulative, etc etc; it's just a bad relationship altogether. F intervenes and tries to help M/W. M and W break up and F helps their friend. Time passes and M/W gets back together with W/M.

Acknowledging the possibility that M/W feels they are responsible for the breakup and/or are being mentally controlled by W/M, which can happen, my theory.

What if, in some cases, when a person breaks up with someone, they only do so to talk to a person, and get back together with their ex, much to the apprehension of their friend(s), only because they are afraid that if they did move on to someone else then they'd no longer have a reason to talk to F?

I know, it might not make much sense, but the thought just came to me overhearing people talking while I was out at the mall and came home to hear this.
