I had one of those in my room back in Brazil. They are awesome since they keep working even when there is no electricity.

Though with cellphones as popular as they are there is not much use for landlines anyway.

The only thing i have to do when there's no energy in my haus is to call someone on the phone and keep chatting until it's back.
