Be a Southperry content tester, contest!
#1
So, you want to be a Southperry content tester? Here's your chance to see behind the scenes things that very few will be privy to.

Rules will be as follows:

Anyone found not following these specific rules and directions will be automatically disqualified so please read carefully.

  • Please write an essay titled, "I want to be a Southperry content tester."
  • The essay should consist of two paragraphs.
  • The first paragraph should state why you want to be a Southperry content tester.
  • The second paragraph should state why you think you would make a good Southperry content tester.
  • The entire essay should not exceed 300 words.
(If your first paragraph consists of 100 words and your second paragraph consists of 200 words, that's fine. Break it up however you want, as long as there are two very distinct paragraphs and the total combined do not exceed the specified length.)
  • You MUST be an active Southperry user.
(Only Eos will be able to determine who is an active user and who isn't.)
  • All essays must be submitted, and PM'ed directly to me, no later than Friday January 14th, 2011 by 9:00 pm PST.
(Late submissions will not be accepted for any reason)
  • Any and all questions should be kept within this thread so others can read answers to questions that have already been answered.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once the deadline for submissions has ended, I will submit a list of names of those who have entered the contest to Eos, and he will eliminate users who aren't considered to be "active" members of SP. The remaining entries will be placed into separate posts in the moderator forum for the MODS to discuss which ones should be chosen based on the essays. The MODS will not be privy to which user submitted which essay. This will hopefully provide the best way to choose users based on the essay and not based on popularity, or lack thereof.

Oh yes, one more thing.............

Just in case anyone was wondering, YES, I WILL count the words in each essay to make sure no one has gone over the specified word count requirement. I'm anal retentive and I like it when directions are followed. Wink

It works for me too. Was wondering what in the world I could have done wrong lol. Hmmmm............odd. Guess I'll take the spoiler tags off so everyone can view it.

Just to clarify that it's not me randomly picking and choosing who I feel is active or not;
Active participation will be determined by scoring frequency of site usage in the past 90 days (how many days actively using the forum out of the past 90). I can see that as low as a page by page request basis when I need to. People on the substantially low end of that score (if any) will be disqualified.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

SP's own college application essay!

Can we use humor? :O

I forgot that Talia had this position. Then I remembered all the bitching everyone did but everyone eventually stopped caring. Cool beans.

Be as creative as you want.

I've already received some essays via PM. I hope a lot more of you will take the time and take this opportunity to really make a difference in this community. I honestly believe the things Eos has in store for the future will be great additions to this site. I also can't think of a better way to involve the community in order to make Southperry THE best place to be on the internet.

Keep 'em coming folks. (I live for contests so please help keep me a busy little bee here. lol)

Counting words isn't even difficult. You could just copy and paste the entire thing into Microsoft Word or any word processor software.

Good luck to those writing.

OH okay.

Now where did I put my PSP...

By "title" are you expecting a title page, or just to have those exact words as the PM title, with the essay copied and pasted into the PM box?
#18
Where exactly would you put a title page in a PM?
Rolleyes

Don't over complicate.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

I'm sure everyone's wondering:

Does it have to be typed up? Can you write it out and scan it then submit it? Single or double spaced? Will spelling and grammar be evaluated?

Does it have to be in English?
