Salute to Monster Book
#1
Over the last year and a half we've had some pretty good times, Monster Book. Well, it was only like... 2 months of good times total. The rest was spent raging at Nexon for pineappleing my pomegranate up. However, when I wasn't raging, I was able to experience some very fun moments, both alone and with the help of friends. So, in your last hours of life, Monster Book, I present this tribute to you.

Helping Isaac get a card he was having trouble with...
The Hobi that I spent dozens of hours hunting for only to be found by Isaac
I was taking a nap and when I got up, Isaac had been frantically calling me to come get this. Just in time!
Ice Mage + Blue Wyverns = Worst night EVER
 Rare card!
 Lucky!
 Icy Mayhem
 First boss card

Farewell, Monster Book................... Sad

The monster book was one of the more interesting game mechanics to me. It was the one thing you could do where you couldn't really outright pay someone to do it for you - so you actually had to work for it yourself. You could pay someone to leech you to level, you could pay someone NX for godly items, but you could not pay for monster cards! It was the last pure thing in the game that you had no choice in actually working hard to obtain, and of course that means it had to be taken out...

This sucks...

Oh yeah, final count, taken last night.

I wish I could've counted my cards one last time before the shuffle hit. Thanks Nexon.

I wonder if a Level 9 book is possible...? Monocle Mine is pathetic in compare a mere Level 5 Aqua not the epic black level 8.

Level 8 = 280 cards
Level 9 would theoretically be... 360 cards.

If possible would be insanely tough, but would be doable I think if high levels could collect Kerning Square cards and Neo City cards actually dropped? I'm not sure about Neo City, maybe they do now, but they didn't when I stopped collecting in August. I was going to start up again, but then this Big Bang crap killed it...

I wish I could find all the screenshots from my monster booking adventures. I remember when it first came out and it was my new favorite thing to do Maple-wise. A majority of the guild I was in would even go out of their way to help me out :3

I also remember all the frustration I'd have over not finding a card within an hour or two of hunting. Yeeeeah.. that I won't miss.

There is no level 9. Even if that many cards exist (I don't think they do) there's no data for a level 9 book.

Even if I had not gotten to your level, I had invested a fair amount of time and enjoyment in getting my 122 cards. My only complaint was towards ZMM. He was the straw that broke the camel's back as far as my activity for the past year has gone. Had I not gotten frustrated and given up, I would have had Vic and Magaita completed by now.

I know it is a useless effort, but I will still be demanding compensation should this occur. And while I realize all evidence points to it, since there was no mention of it in their announcements, I'd like to believe there's a sliver of hope... I'd like to believe...

So, I say we all demand the same thing in terms of compensation so that the complaints can be accepted in unison. If the book is to never return, an NX return to players who have the "Monster Expert" Medal for every card over 30 to account for time and potential 2x drop lost. Not sure what that per card rate should be though. Should they have plans to reintroduce the Book after it has been properly updated, the same demographic should receive a permanent 4x drop rate for cards from then on out. Unfortunately, due to the rest of the updates, I think that an immediate response would be lost in the spam of the uninformed, so I believe it would be an ideal time around 2 weeks in.

I haven't really been in the know...

Has KMS revamped their monster book at all, or is it still completely gone? Is it true that JMS kept their monster book even directly after their big bang patch?

KMS hasnt brought it back and JMS has indeed kept it and updated it. Maybe we could keep and update it too? Unlikely since they never made Masterian cards...

KMS has done nothing. JMS indeed revamped it.

Hopefully the Monster Book stays in the game JMS-style. Big Grin

On a hilarious note, it would be quite the amusing endeavor to collect Lionheart Castle cards. :3

Nexon needs to re-add and improve the system it wasnt only fun to hunt and finally find the card you worked hard for, but when ur friends helped u find that card. The card they found for you reminds you of that time. The monster book is an all around great feature that is good for lone wolfs and socialites alike.

I will always remember Monster Book as that little extra thing. When you're hunting for quest items, or when you're killing area bosses, these little things would just be that small accomplishment that makes you go, MONSTER CARD GET! And now we won't have that anymore ;(
