Not really.

If you look at the similarities between Venonat and Butterfree, and claimed that they were in the same evolution family with no prior knowledge of the pokemon it's actually 100% believable.

Caterpie > Metapod > Venomoth? Just doesn't seem right either way. There are like NO similarities in the evolution family.

Just my opinion though.
