Looking for movies to mess with my head
#1
I'm looking for movies like Inception and the Matrix which make you question reality and why we're all here. Other topics can include consciousness, thought, reason, logical disjunction, or the afterlife. But the messing with my head part is the main thing I care about.

Any recommended movies? I don't care how old they are.

Pan's Labyrinth.
inb4 Sixth Sense / any of the other garbage by M. Night
i remember a serious movie where it involved something like the guy had amnesia, but was a genius. it wasn't rain man. might have been eternal sunshine of the spotless mind?

Memento, greatest mind pineapple I have ever had.

Don't read anything about it, just rent it and enjoy.

Donnie Darko is great as well, The Primer, and District 9

Equilibrium is very similar to the matrix (or at least how i remembered it).

Also, try Mulholland Dr. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0166924/)

I have seen, and used to own Equilibrium. it is not a mindscrew, so much as it is a movie that makes you reflect upon yourself to some degrees. it touches upon emotions, and whether or not they're truly needed in a human. its a gritty world outside of the utopia, and really never got too great a reception, because of comparisons to the matrix, but it is a good movie nonetheless pending you are both interested in the genre and subject the movie falls into, and just generally enjoy the movie.

Plus, the guy who played Norman Bates and Bruce Wayne is the lead actor. better than Keanu Reaves in every way.

You've probably seen it already, but how about Blade Runner?

Most of those movies deal with what life is, what does it mean to be alive, etc. Not all are mindscrews, but it's a good list.[/COLOR]

- Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus
- Paprika (anime)
- The Onion Movie

Only ones I can think of at the moment. The three of them leave you with a "what the f'uck did I just watch" feeling. On different levels though.

that might be it. i remember a scene where the guy throws a chair or something out of a second story window at a house, or something. =S might have it mixed up with another movie though.
