The Esmeralda was about three days out of port, just after picking up a few new crew members. It was the evening, and as could be expected there was a lot of drunken revelry going on. The cabin boy had just come back from his fifth trip to the cargo hold to fetch more rum, and the crew was finally getting drunk enough to pass out. Jimmy laid down on the deck, gazing up at the stars. Suddenly, the looming face of Cap'n Jones blocked out his view. Jimmy jumped to his feet, mumbling apologies for slacking off on the job, but the cap'n just grinned at him. "Relax, lad. I not be here to reprimand ye." Jimmy stopped his mumbling, slowly realizing that the cap'n, unlike the rest of the crew, was actually sober. "I've seen ye fetchin' rum for these fools all night. Ye deserve a bit o' rest." Jones turned and looked up at the stars. "Besides, I be getting a bad feelin' from these winds. Somethin' be wrong, but I not be sure what." The cap'n patted Jimmy on the shoulder. "Enjoy relaxin' while ye can, boy." With that, the cap'n turned and walked toward the rest of the crew and started trying to get some to bed and some sobered up enough to start a night shift.
Jimmy looked up at the stars again. Something in the wind?, he thought. He couldn't sense it. But then, the cap'n was an older and wiser man than he, and Jimmy knew that. After a few minutes, he headed below decks to his own bed to turn in for the night.

Rules:
1. The game will cycle between night and day, beginning with Night 0. Not all night actions will work on Night 0; this information is provided in the user's role PM.
2. Days and nights will last around 24 hours each, or until majority/all actions are in.
3. The exact details in role and result PMs may not be traded at any point in time. You may choose to reveal results and roleclaim, but you may not quote PMs directly.
4. If you don't want to use your night role, please send a PM to me with the title 'Night x - Idling' anyway. This at least shows you're paying attention to the game.
5. Lynch votes must be bolded. No Lynch is not an acceptable vote. Please make sure that you unbold obsolete votes. In the event that no one votes, or it comes to a tie, there will be no death.
6. There are no items in this game.
7. Do not screenshot anything related to the game.
8. Do not talk about the game with or in front of living players while you are dead, unless allowed to by the host. You may still plan with your teammates if you're mafia, but only for the sake of planning strategies. In the event that you do, you may not use any outside information you may have acquired (e.g. contacting a friend, saying "I'm dead now, what's your role?", and then telling others is NOT okay).
9. Do not impersonate other players or me. You may not fake logs, including logs with me.
10. If you have any questions about your role or the game please don't hesitate to contact me. If I'm on IRC I'll be on #southperry. You may also PM me.
11. IRC is restricted only to those who are in the mafia. There will be one channel for the mafia. You are not allowed to release the channel or who is in the channel to ANYONE.
12. The game ends when a win condition is fulfilled.

14. Priorities are kept secret.
15. The mafia may communicate privately amongst themselves. All other communication must take place in the gameplay thread.
16. There will be a discussion thread for any player to post in, but this thread is for laughing or raging at what's going on, not serious discussion of suspicions, etc. I don't have mod powers to enforce this, but please keep posts to the discussion thread if you're dead or not playing. Posts should also be kept to the discussion thread and not here during night phases. You can't discuss who you suspect while you're all sleeping.
17. There is one town faction (pirates) and one mafia faction (ninjas). There may or may not be neutrals.
