Did anyone here get banned today?
#1
A few people on the Nexon forums, basil, and other forums have been complaining about themselves being banned til 2038 for no reason. It apparently happened before the server check. Is anyone here experiencing a recent banning or missing characters from rankings again like before during the release of Dual blades?

I thought random banning was part of GMS. The long list of public shaming permabans seems to suggest Nexon America is very disorganized trigger happy.

Er. Before the release of dual blades, anyone who logged on to Maplestory got taken off rankings I believe. It wasn't because of a mass banning.

2038? What, is Nexon running on Unix?

On the other hand, Asiasoft is almost completely apathetic; hackers are running all over the place and the GMs don't seem to be lifting a finger. =.=

Okay, actually they do; there's a mass banning every half a year or so. Feels more like Asiasoft putting on a show to appease the players though.

As far as I know, Nexon is on Windows Server 2003/2008. The timestamp of the temporary ban system sent to the client is handled in int32.
However, I doubt Nexon will live until this date.

Apparently enhancement hacked items [that had a ton of stars] got deleted, so those chars might have gotten banned.

I have a feeling I'm going to log onto my account and see my 1 and 2 star items deleted.

EDIT: Crappy 4 star Demon Axe got wiped from my Fighter's inventory. -_-

I'm glad Nexon removed the hacked items (and banned their owners?), but I think 4 is too low to set the bar.
In a game where rich people regularly try to pass a fifth 30% scroll on an item that already had 4 of them work, I can believe people would try that fourth enhancement scroll. And the chance of success is 16.8% (if they were all regular enhancement scrolls), so it's far from infinitesimal.

And when you consider that those rich risk-takers are usually heavy nx buyers as well... can't understand why Nexon set the threshold at 4. I would give 4, and maybe even 5, the benefit of the doubt.
