Slow computer, need help
#1
For a while now, my computer just hasn't been doing good enough. I cannot run Maplestory, Vindictus, Minecraft, or TF2 (any games or exe really..) without having a ridiculously bad FPS. Usually, if I just start up the computer and jump into a game, there will be no lag. I can even run Vindictus and TF2 at max settings and there will be nearly no lag at all. But, within five minutes, my FPS will just drop to 6 FPS or worse. This lag will last for anywhere from five to ten minutes, and suddenly snap back into perfect no lag game play, only to start lagging out again within five minutes. I thought I should try lowering my settings, but I got down to setting my computers res to the lowest, and my games settings and res to the lowest. Same results as just having high settings. I have also noticed my windows have that laggy minimize every now and then, on Firefox, document folders, and even blank text files.. Yesterday I downloaded a few security programs and clean up programs, but it doesn't look like it did much.. I really do not know what to do anymore.. Heres some of my computer info.

Try checking your video card or power supply, I had a very similar problem and it was caused by my video card overheating due to a bad power supply, I noticed it too late and my video card got burned, capacitors exploded and all sort of funny things, fire + horrible smell included.

Geezus I'm never going with Dell ever again. After having this comp for about a year and a half the graphics card did burn out and I went and bought a nVidia 9k w/e. I'm not gonna rule out hardware/over heating yet, but I wanna try to stay on the software side due to lack of money.. Unless.. all signs point to hardware......
