QQ music is the biggest provider of music in China, the ranking is based on the number of times played, favorites, shared by the user.
Micheal Jackson has always been #1 on the list until I checked today.
The total number of times those 18 songs by justin beiber played is higher than the sum of 535 of micheal jackson's songs played in China this month

btw this is European/American Male singer section.
I see why Justin Bieber is #1 now, his song "never say never" theme song of the new karate kid which is a really popular movie in China is #1 on the English top 100 list, #16 on the overall top 100 list (including Chinese songs).
In the overall singer ranking Justin Bieber is #26, Micheal Jackson is #30, Lady gaga is #15, Sara (a japanese singer) is #29, everyone else in the top 30 are Chinese.

Out of curiosity, are the songs translated? I can't imagine Eminem's lyrics maintaining the same rhyme scheme unless they put a lot of effort into making a convincing adaptation.

Actually, Michael Jackson has a pretty big fanbase in China. From what I understand, usually, the only concerts that sell out in China are the local Chinese artists; but Michael Jackson was able to be pretty popular in China despite that. Horus's rankings seem to prove that even now.

Still, rankings are to be expected I guess. The world has a horrible taste in music, indeed.

No, those who listens to English songs are probably people like me who speaks English. Eminem is #67 on the overall list, and Akon is #149.
