Elsword

This game is extremely fun! I just started it today, but so far, the gameplay is really good and it's fun to play. Though, it's extremely button-mashy (at least at first), which makes your hands wear out fast.

As far as I can tell, it JUST came out in Japan this year, so maybe we'll see a state-side release soon. I believe it was out in Korea since '07? I'm not entirely positive.

Here are some clips :

If anyone is interested in joining me on the JP version, here's the link : http://elsword.hangame.co.jp/

You may, however, need an VPN to connect to the website (and website only! There's no IP block on the actual game, so when you press "Game Start," you can disconnect the VPN and play normally). If you need it, go to http://dn.mapleportal.com/showthread.php...JP-website (it works the same exact way as Dragon Nest). If you want to register here's a simple guide :

Reminds me of Gunbound for some reason, I have no idea why. But it looks cool.

I've noticed some difference between the Korean and the Japanese version.
For example, the Korean version has more voices when you attack while the Japanese version doesn't in which I'm a bit surprised of.

Also this game is more like Grand Chase considering it's made by the same d00ds, KOG.

Yeah, I heard the game is a "Part 2" of Grand Chase.

Yea it's like some sequel to Grand Chase, originally they were deciding to put the Grand Chase characters in Elsword as Cameos, but all I see is Elesis in it.

Yes you see Elesis in Elsword's intro thing. Although I'm still not sure if Elesis is Elsword's sister or mother, but still it can be his sister. It is said that Elesis became like a commander in that game and is the one who gave Elsword that sword he carries around.

I can't wait to become a Sword Knight and Lord Knight!! It looks like so much fun!

This is single handedly the greatest MMO I've laid my eyes on since I started playing MMOs.

By the way, merely watching this game doesn't even come close to even bringing a FRACTION of the awesomeness you get by actually playing this game.

Not yet. They just got Raven recently, it seems. I heard that Raven and Eve, you had to buy them in the Korean/Taiwan/Hong Kong version. So far, Raven is 100% free in the JP version.

@Erich : Why the hell do you need Cait to play an MMO? O_o

Uh. I don't need her, but I want to finally be able to play a MMO with her, and this is simple enough that I can walk cait through it.

Looks like a more spammy Dungeon Fighter. Are there any multiplayer videos?

If it's not as ridiculously difficult to connect as Dragon Nest was, I might try it out. Don't have any time to play MMOs anymore, but side scrolling beat-em-ups are always fun.

Difficult as in the JP OS requirement? There is none of that. However, you still need a VPN to connect to their website and website only. As soon as you press "Game Start," you can completely disconnect and close out of VPN and play the game on your own connection.

Trying to follow your guide.

Multiplayer videos? Good multiplayer functionality makes or breaks these games for me.

Edit: Also, pineapple, is it "El-sword" or "Els-word"

Multiplayer makes the game, really. lol It's so much more fun to do multiplayer most of the time. I don't know of any good multiplayer videos, but it's better to find out for yourself, really.

The downloader is really pissing me off. I'm on the east coast USA running a proxy to a server in Japan, so I can understand a pomegranatety download speed. What I don't understand is why the downloader does not save anything into a temp file that it can access later. If it crashes 30% of the way through downloading the game because my internet cuts out (why does it even crash? just fucking pause it stupid), I have to start over. What the pineapple.

Why are you using a proxy for the download? You're supposed to turn off VPN just after you press "game start." It won't crash if you have your VPN off.
