+X% Weapon Attack
#1
I'm not sure if the damage formula is correct. I got it from Insoya. I might not have the right concept either.
Fix me if I'm wrong.

[Image: 211nlg1.jpg]

Screenshot above was taken with Focus and Sharp Eyes.

Damage formula for Xbows:
(Total STR + Total DEX * 3.6) * Total W.ATT / 100

Max damage: 6221
Total STR: 127
Total DEX: 851
Total W.ATT: 184 (Disregard the %Wink

============================================

If the % only affects the weapon's W.ATT
134 + 8.04 = 142.04
Disregard the decimals, so 142.
Now, total W.ATT is 192.
127 + 851 * 3.6) * 192 / 100
= 6125.952
6125 =/= 6221

============================================

If the % affects the total damage (range)
(127 + 851 * 3.6) * 184
= 5870.704
Disregard the decimals, so 5870.
+6% from here:
5870 * 1.06
= 6222.2
6222 =/= 6221

============================================

If the % affects the total W.ATT
Add 6% to 184.
184 + 11.04 = 195.04
(127 + 851 * 3.6) * 195 / 100
= 6221.67

So then it doesn't only affect the weapon's w.att...

I think I just found out what it affects. I'll post it in a sec.

Maybe it doesn't affect passive skills like MM boost and blessing.

No offense but... why didn't you assume that to begin with? There's already a bunch of equipment that gives +% DEX, and those are based off of your base DEX and not the DEX on the equipment.

From the calculations he made, 184 att was the guy's TOTAL weapon att including any blessing and MM boost (if any). The crossbow is 134 att, and he calculated that to have that damage range he'd need 184 att. So he noted that the person must have a +50 att boost from either cape, shoes, blessing, etc.

He was able to get the exact damage range by assuming that the +att% affect the whole 184 att (meaning that it does take into account blessing)

I'd find it hard to believe that the person doesn't have at least lvl 3 blessing if not higher.
However, we have no idea if he has MMboost, so we don't have a definitive answer on whether or not it would be taken into account for the +att%.... but if blessing is.. MMboost should be too, one would think.

Affecting total damage range and total w attack should be the same thing. Just a matter of where the decimal gets dropped.

How do you know he has 184 weapon attack before the +%WA boost?

oh dang, good point. Pride, got an answer to this one? Did he post up his total watt somewhere or something?

He posted it as 184.

EDIT: Oh snap, forgot credits.

Actually the +%LUK gear is based off base+MW+equips as far as I can tell. So application is base, MW, equip+, equip%.

Having full stats (base, gear, and %s) for a character would help confirm that though.

In the sense that it's added to your total, not just a single equip, it is ok though.

I don't understand the difference between +% ATT, primary stat, and total damage range. Don't they all increase your damage by (well, almost) the same amount? Just spam whichever one is easiest to get.

I would think % att affects total attack (including passives), +% stat works on total stats after MW, and +% total damage is either based on the damage range or a multiplication of the actual damage after everything (crit, multipliers, etc). I hope total damage is the latter though, because that affects damage way more than just affecting the damage range.

+% att and +% damage is the same for physical classes, but not magical classes. +% primary stat will not be as good as +% STAT due to the fact that people put points usually into the 2ndary stat. But for ___less people, +% STAT will give almost the exact same amount as +% att.

+% att and +% damage range isn't available to get on most gear except for weapons, so people will have to get +% STAT which isn't as good for physical classes. (Notedly, if you plan to apple, +% STAT is MUCH better than +% att. )

On weapons, +% att IS available, so you could always go right on ahead and get that. It just really depends on how much of a boost it gives (if it's comparable to the +%STAT boost).

Boss damage +20~30% is always better than the other boosts (against bosses of course).

Aside from negligible rounding, attack and damage are proportional o.o

As for main stats, (kx + y)z/100 is slightly different from k(x+y)z/100, but only by a little bit.

They're proportional but the fact is that they're different things. It means nexon can get away with the ability to increase both of them despite the fact that they are in retrospect "the same thing".

That's only true if +% attack includes whatever attack pot you're using. I think it does, but Shouri does not.

Since they are different:

If +10% att and +10% damage range is available. It is NOT best to get 2 +10%atts or +10% damage.

It is infact best to get 1 of each.

With the first method, you'd in essence get a 20% damage boost.
With getting one of each, the boost is 1.1*1.1=1.21, 21% boost. Raising something that you have less of (and is actually useful) is most important.

You'll always start off at 100% main stat, 100% att, 100% damage range.

Let's say you have 160% STAT (from gear), 100% att, 100% range.

If you have +20% STAT or +20% att to choose from (exaggerated to clearly show the difference) .... +20% stat gives you an effective boost of NEW%/OLD% = 180%/160% = x1.125 increase.
The +20% att would be 120%/100% = x1.2 increase.

So since att and range are separate and only available on weapons apparently getting 1 of each boost would be just slightly better than getting one of each.

In the end it REALLY doesn't matter as much for physical classes. On the other hand... magical classes have the whole matt squared thing to worry about.

Just treat it as echo mechanism. Now that arises another question, I wonder how echo will stack on that. Additively or multiplicatively? I'm guessing additively because maplestory is stupid.

Sooo with this stuff coming out, is there ANY reason to still use currently good scrolled items? We might as well just buy fresh clean ones and potential scroll till we all get 20k+ ranges...
