Derp Salamence
#1
Might get banned.

Seems really weird to ban him from OU. I mean, I'm used to checking him so often in the metagame...never really thought about it.

Flygon and Dragonite are going to be extremely happy if Salamence gets banned.

Derp metagame in general.

Real trainers win with their favorites.

Salamence being banned is just LOL. Back during 3rd gen when Sala was raping the entire metagame, there weren't too many Sala counters, and yet, he was not banned. These days, a single SR or/and in conjunction with Spikes / Toxic Spikes would be enough to f*ck up a DDmence set. I don't see a reason to ban it. Yes, we know it rapes with CB, the fact that it's sets can be unpredictable because it can easily be a mixed sweeper, the fact that it has high speed, etc.

Still beatable.

LOL, if they're banning Sala, or considering it, might as well ban Ttar.

^ Spikes/Toxic Spikes doesn't affect Salamence.

I personally don't think Salamence is Uber, but maybe that's because all of my teams are prepared for it, thus I've never had trouble dealing with it. It gets worn down very quickly with Stealth Rock, Life Orb recoil, and Sandstorm.

However, I can see why they'd want to at least consider testing it since it has two equally devastating sets with entirely different counters: MixMence and DDMence. With Latias gone, MixMence has one less Pokemon that can revenge kill it. What makes Salamence difficult to counter is that you can't predict what set it is running. Swampert counters DDMence fine but it gets owned by MixMence. Scarf Tar can kill MixMence but what if you switch it in while Salamence Dragon Dances? The fact that you have to sacrifice one Pokemon just to figure out what set Salamence is using is enough reason to at least consider it for a suspect test.

Cresselia is the only Pokemon that can switch into any Salamence set and take it out with Ice Beam, but the poor thing has to deal with a metagame full of Tyranitar and Scizor.

Oh, right, I forgot. It only does under the effect of Gravity. <_< My team's used to using Gravity, so I forgot. Sorry about that, but it still works.. I suppose.

Keep in mind you tourneydudes are mindless sheep in the hands of some website that has a strange self-important opinion on what Pokemon is better than the other.

I agree with this. Suddenly Latias is Uber, and everyone decides to restrict Sala too. If Sala passes, then it'll be something like Ttar next, etc.

im not really into competitive play. i rarely even go on shoddy, and if i do im hard-pressed to even have a battle. i only really downloaded it for this SP tourney.
though, i still think its a bad idea to make something an uber just because something else is an uber. it needs to meet those qualifications on its own, and be able to handle itself in the uber tier without being owned left and right.

also, one more dragon ranked as uber? leaves only dragonite that matters thats a dragon and not an uber. (lol bias against flygon)

They aren't considering Salamence Uber just because Latias is Uber. It's because Latias was one of the few Pokemon that could revenge kill Salamence reliably. With it back in Ubers, Salamence now has 1 less counter. The MixMence set becomes more destructive because now the only OU Pokemon that outspeed it without having to resort to Choice Scarf are Azelf, Gengar, and Starmie.

Furthermore, people have considered Salamence as a suspect ever since it out Outrage in Platinum. Before the DD set wasn't as devastating because Dragon Claw was significantly weaker. With Outrage, it can OHKO almost any non-Steel type after 1 Dragon Dance.

Unless you want to pitch in 50 bucks to make our own Shoddy server where we can allow Latias and Salamence in, it's not our fault Eek.

I'm betting Inferape will get the boot next.

I can see why they're doing this, but I doubt the motion will pass. This is just like the shortlived Latios OU suspect test, imo.

@Corn: most Infernape are mixed with a Life Orb. Goes down to residual damage fairly easily.

Same could be easily said for Salamence, plus the fact Salamence is weak to Stealth Rock :3.

Take a look at Salamence.

Compare to Infernape.

Salamence has offensive sets, defensive sets, and mixed sets. Don't see that with Infernape, now do we?

Seconded. Latias was a bit much, though.
