Red Dead Redemption
#1
Howdy, Southperry. I was rather surprised when I clicked into the Gaming section and couldn't find a RDR thread. My PS3 has been slowly gathering dust (Thanks, Pokemon), but soon, everything's going to be alright. After multiple delays, Red Dead Redemption will finally hit the shelves on May 18th.

To be honest with you all, I don't know too much about this game. IGN has done quite a few bi-weekly "specials" that cover some of the game's highlights and accomplishments as far as the technical stuff goes.

 Life in the West

 Weapons and Combat

 Multiplayer

There's plenty more out there, but here's some of the important ones. I also came across these two maps; one of which has a scale comparison that truly amazed me. There's three maps, so there's still one that hasn't been revealed:

 Spoiler

God, I can't wait. Rockstar never disappoints. This isn't going to be a half-assed "GTA in the desert". I'm sure of it.

Well, since this is out now and there are no FAQs, we can use this topic for discussion and help.

Anyone know where to find an ample supply of bunnies? Need 3 more for my sharpshooter challenge.

I think it's really just luck. Up until about an hour ago I found a huge family of bunnies and slaughtered them all. :/

I just finished the mission that unlocked the south of the river. I'm getting some more Gold pieces. :3

Gold Pieces? I haven't found anything like that yet. Is that this games collectible? (Like packages in GTA)

I'm interested in the multiplayer. I love sandbox games, so the option to explore the entire game with friends gets me really excited. Been hearing horrible things about it though. Mostly connection problems.

Been watching podcast of it, and I gotta say single player looks pretty fun. I'm told Hookers explode when a train runs over them, but I haven't been able to find the clip, and I missed it on the podcast.

Other than tid-bits of game footage, I really don't know much about how the game actually works. Grabbing this as soon as I can wring up the money. What's it cost? 60?

Gotta say, this game kicks ass! I really like the large terrain maps like you have in Battlefield and GTA!

Again, really nice game folks! Smile

Around Hanging rock, towards the beginning of the game, you rescue a dude and he gives you a map to some treasure. You go and find it, and it has another map, then you find the next, and another map. So on, so forth. There's like 9 gold pieces that sell for $100+ each and it's fun just finding them.

Oh yeah, I got my first map a long time ago. I've looked at it about 14 times and can't make head nor tails of it. HERE'S TWO ROCKS; GOOD LUCK!!

I started playing yesterday evening out of curiosity from reading Sarah's blog... and ended up playing well past midnight. To be honest, I never got into any of the GTA games, but RDR really surprised me and now I'm sad that I have to wait four days to play it again. I'm also disappointed that there seems to be a ton of backstory I'm missing out on from not playing the first game. Oh well.

I've only completed a few missions, but catching and breaking horses is fun. So is hog-tying people. I want to catch more horsies!

Restarted, and did things right this time. No random murders that butcher my Honor. Now the down side... every time I step foot in Thieves Landing, I get shot by everyone. Have two strangers request to do there now. Without committing genocide, how can I safety get into Black Water?
