New censor
#1
So now if you try to spam it converts everything you say to #####.
Some things, like "J>PQ", you aren't allowed to say even once.
Doesn't block the spam though, and doesn't prevent dc hacks. Being flooded with ###### gets you disconnected just as surely as being flooded with @@@@.
Fail Nexon is fail.

Basically when you try to type "J>PQ" it shows up as #### on other people's screens. Just like how when you say a swear word it comes out as **** ....i wonder what's next...

EDIT: apparently sometimes it comes up #### , and other times J>PQ

Actually it shows up as #### on your own screen too, which is an improvement on the old censor (which is still in place for "inappropriate language").
And yeah, sometimes J>PQ goes through and sometimes it doesn't. Really odd new logic they have there.

Failing to see how this fixes anything. At all. If anything it just replaces the spam with something else. Waste of time implementing a faulty new protocol.

I assume it's meant to discourage spammers.
After all, if when you say "visit www.hackme.ms for too-good-to-be-true" or "S>sweat 5k each@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@" it shows as "##### ######## ### ####################", you're not gaining any customers, and so you will stop.

Wonder how long it will take the meso-sellers and other spambot operators to figure out the new logic and circumvent it, while innocent shopless players and other honest people become unable to get anything said.

It's because people who type complete sentences don't get invites. At least from my experience.

When I'm PQing (I have mules for pretty much every PQ, which I use for fun quite a bit) if anyone says anything like "I'm joining KPQ" or "Joining a Ludibrium PQ run", you can almost guarantee that it's the first time they've ever PQ'ed.

Instead of creating more spam with ################ all over the damn chat, why not just block the message from being sent, with a message on the chat box informing the player you can not say that word/phrase.

Because that was very, very, very and very annoying. Especially when it got censored out of a REGULAR sentence.

This new system doesn't censor unless you spam the same thing over and over again. Still doesn't solve anything for spam, people will continue to do it.

Can someone show me a screenshot of what they're trying to convey? I don't understand the message, and I don't play maplestory enough to understand.

We NEVER used to say dumb things like "j>pq". Shows how much you know, and how far MS's community has fallen, if you need to speak in single letters to be considered normal anymore.

I'm not getting the censor. Do you really have to spam it?

I'm not getting it either.

I think they might have turned it off - it may have been an experimental feature or something. Just peeked into FM Entrance and the usual spam is being spammed, not a #### to be seen.
