Poland's Tragedy
#1
Gosh, when I thought this month couldn't be more shocking.....

"On Saturday 10 April 2010, a Tupolev Tu-154M of the Polish 36th Special Aviation Regiment crashed next to Smolensk-North Airport, just outside Smolensk near Pechyorsk, Smolensk Oblast, Russia, killing all 96 aboard, including President Lech Kaczyński and scores of dignitaries in the upper and lower houses of the Polish parliament, in the government, military, and clergy of various denominations. They were on their way to mark the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre.
Details about the cause of the crash are still unconfirmed. News agencies report that the pilot attempted four times to land in heavy fog, ignoring the advice of the ground control to divert to a safer airport, either in Minsk or Moscow. On the fourth landing attempt the plane struck trees 1.5 kilometres (0.9 mi) from the airport and smashed into pieces across the floor of the wooded area.
Polish and Russian authorities confirmed that all 96 people on the aircraft died in the accident. It was among the worst disasters in Polish history by death-toll, and is so far the most deadly aircraft crash in 2010.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation."

There has been international response and mourning from at least 57 countries.

My condolences go out to Poland.

I'll probably go to Polish hell for this but this reminds me of a saying about not putting all your eggs in one basket. Sorry for all the lives that were lost, and I hope Poland has a contingency plan for something like this happening.

Supposedly the vice died in the crash as well.

Also, people are now making conspiracy theories about this being "planned" by Russia or something. Sad.

Like my dad said, NEVER put more than 2 or 3 important people on a plane at a time. He once worked for Motorola, and they never allowed more than 6 executives on a plane at the same time.

And yes, the vice died as well. GG Poland.

I'm a tiny bit ashamed to admit it, but when I saw this on the news, heard Russia, then Russian plane the first thought that blitz through my head was: Dangit KGB strikes again!
It probably plays well with Polish who were under russian oppresion.

Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket, eh. So sad )=
