How does power guard work exactly?

I understand that for non-boss monsters, you only take 60% of the damage dealt to you touch wise, and the knockback on you is lessened too. And for bosses, you take 80% of touch damage, is that correct? I can't figure out why I can't take a horntail tail touch with 30k hp and pg on. There was no poison and pg was definitely on and I had 30k hp 100%. I rushed into the tail from the right and died just like that. Is there something about pg that I'm not aware about? DKs can cross with max achilles no problem all the time, and it's only 15% reduction, compared to pg's 20%. I don't get it.

Horntail's Tail gets buffed sometimes. I was once hit for 38,000 damage (with PG, I think...), so it's not always possible, at all, to get over to the other side.

I know the wing gives attack buffs, but our dks always live passing the tail, I usually see them taking 32,500 damage or so on my screen. Maybe I need more str or something, oh well. Oh yeah, if your level is below the monster's, you take more damage too don't you? Was 157 when it happened.

Those are factors that does not really change a lot. At most, like 1k hp.

Weird though. Unbuffed, HT-tail should at most deal 23k damage to you without any PG or Achilles.

When i was seduce mule on my hero which was 15x i had 27k hp with hb and took a hit from the tail and didnt die.

I know under normal circumstances I shouldn't have died, that's why I'm trying to figure out what happened. I'm 100% I had 30k hp and pg on, and no poison around the tail.

That has happened to my hero as well, and it always bugged me because I would literally spam pots and still die even though I had 30k hp. I cannot remember the exact circumstances when it happened though(it hasn't happend to me for a long time) like if i died right when it kbed me to the other side or as i was walking back. But one thing I am positive about is that I was never 1hit koed while I was being seduced. That could be coincidental though because I remember there were times when the tail did not 1hit ko me while i was blown to the other side. The problem seemed to go away though ever since I bought auto pot, but then again that too could be coincidental also because I've been too afraid to go on the tail and test that out since it would waste a res lol
