Community Opinion: Neo City
#1
If no one knew about the existance of Neo Tokyo then Neo city could have been one fo the greatest areas ever. But since this is not the case does it make a difference? The monsters and music are mostly the same as before. The only things absent are: proper level of challenge, some items and some story. It almost seems like a small price to pay if more maplers are able to finish the whole line of quests. Wat do u think?

How about a reward? Circlet would have been great if it had +17 or something that made it an upgrade hat.

Also, Crumpled paper quest.

It would probably have been a little hit, then it would fall off since not many ppl can anjoy it because the bosses are weaker than king pepe and yeti -_-

Needs more monster book cards.

And by more, I mean at least one. This reminds me... Anyone knows where can I see the list of the cards obtainable there?

Horrible storyline. Random NPCs placed in senseless places. Most of the interesting maps removed. Boss monsters like Core Blaze changed to stupid map objects. No PQs. No Jump Quests (the original jump quest lasers were changed to be normal map objects, too). Need to have an eraser to time travel for just one day unlimitedly or hunt Leafre monsters for a rare watch that will disappear as soon as you use it.

Yes. Hate it.

Yes. Hate it.

So if you have the watch you can only be in Neo Tokyo for 24hours?

I've yet to even go to Neo City. I have no idea what it's like. >_>

PS: Probably is a waste of time for a lv 133 Night Lord anyways.
PSS: Actually, I might explore it on my Night Walker. But on a Night Lord, is useless. Both my NL and NW are already helmed though. :/ Oh well.

Isn't there an option for: Liked the storyline somehow and doing quests is fun but would have preferred Neo Tokyo 1000000x more?

No, you lose the watch when you enter because you "don't keep a firm grip" on it.

I like neo-city so much, it was the straw that broke the camels back, so to speak, in deciding if i was ever going to uninstall maple completely Biggrin. Maybe whena masteria expansion comes out, I might reinstall but its doubtful.

The Neo City announcement was the nail in the coffin for me walking away from MapleStory. I have no reason to come back now.

I'm not even in the level range yet, but judging by Combattente's thread, it seems lousy.

The questline was absolute rubbish, even more so than Haunted Mansion II. The story was so disconnected because it was like a repetitive chain of "Fetch me so and so", "Kill X monsters", and "Kill a boss"; but there's no actual plot going on aside from guys giving you instructions about what you have to do in a certain time period without any "why"s for the reasons behind what's going on and what happened. So basically, you just traipsed around in a future apocalyptic wasteland without any real understanding about what you're doing and helping people along the way.

Some nasty plot points as for actual "plot":

2215- May and Bao's quests. So you're told to look for survivors and bring them to her right? When I walked by Bao and saw the lightbulb above his head, I knew immediately to click it. The first thing I see? "May is polite, but she can be pretty cold." And after that, "I'm so relieved that there is another survivor!", which makes it obvious he hadn't actually met May which is a total fart in the story considering he claims to know who May is from his first dialogue before you start the quest and then when I start it, he tells me that he hadn't seen any other survivors. Then he asks me to go kill some Iruvatas to make things less dangerous. Then, he asks me if both me and him are the only survivors left; and then I tell him about May. He realizes that there's another survivor named "May" out there then thanks me. Goddamn.

Oh, and how about "Ken"? Dumb idiot stands in front of a bunch of Overlords in the open, and there's another reason I don't like him in Neo City...

Actually, I did have a bit of fun fighting the bosses. Not too bad; but the rest was rubbish.

I actually enjoyed Neo City, unlike a lot of people I guess. Call my ignorant but I just ignored the story and played through the quests. They were decent, the worst one was collecting the paper, which should have no taking 2 hours to do. Other then that, the quests were fair, and the exp was amazing from them. The only problem I had was I couldn't kill either of the angel people, so I had to get friends (I was a level 89 hermit at the time, not enough hp.) Another downside is the the fact that you need close to 10 watches to get in and out. This really didn't effect me though, it's because I trained a lot before going in so I had a stock of them.

Overall, I'd say I got lucky during the most annoying parts of this expansion. I think if I could rate it it'd be around a 7/10, and would recommend it to people for a slightly fun factor and a nice chunk of exp.

first off all all neo city maps are Go Right---> thats it. unlike in neo tokyo they are diffrent 2cnd of all the mobs are randumly placed like what the hell slimes in the future?
neo tokyo mobs are balanced and not randumly atached 3rd the maps themselves are horrible+the quests go to first map kill 50mobs go to 2cnd map talk to npc get 40etc go to 3rd map kill boss and jeez you do this like 4times i am not kidding same crap 4times...everything makes sence in neo tokyo as if its a realy good manga isue you get atached to the quests npcs monsters like "ye bring it on do 8k dmg on me and zombiefi me "
4th the story is a pile of crap in neo city. neo tokyo story is good because you can choose the ending and the rewards are awesom the medals making bullets and more all you get in neo city is a big middle thinger in your face in a shape of a 5sts lvl 93 hat...
5th you have no reson at all to go to neo city unlike in neo tokyo is a super chalange everything is hard and you can get exlusive items
ppl say kmst made duribility weps for neo city but they suck since i am an axe hero and no duribilty weapon axe...screw this
in conclusion its better to get hacked by hackers then visit neo city.

We all know neo city is better. The OP was asking if it was good as its own area. He didnt want them compared.

Bosses were way too easy. I soled in less than 10 seconds as a lvl 76 outlaw
