Making up for the hackings.

what do you think is the best thing to do.

Rollback sounds nice, I haven't done anything lately so there's nothing to lose.

If the people who were hacked are able to provide proof of the equips they had taken, as well as mesos and other worth while items, plus their NX usage log, nexon should create new accounts for the player and have the items, plus the character remade. Only issues with that is with people who dont post their equips and such on forums, and those who HP washed will be left out in one way or another.

Like John said, if they could prove their equips/mesos/NX were taken/used (via screenshots and Nexon's logs and whatnot), then I would like them to go with giving everyone back what they lost. But with that route, it would be impossible to properly compensate everyone that was hacked.

There's not a lot they can do but to be perfectly honest, I think they should do a roll back and then be forced to deal with everyone's loss. They should have shut the damn game down months ago.

But again, there's nothing they can do at this point for most of those people. The divide is too split and either way they're going to end up making a LOT of people really angry.

If they can rollback individual characters, they really should go with that route.

Rollback 3 months? Oh that'd be fun. I'ma vote for that, just because I want to see the rage it induces.

Meh Nexon should just give everyone perfectly 10% scrolled equips, maxed meso and 1000 gach tickets...Rolleyes

The only way id consider coming back would be to rollback my entire account to a day before being hacked. And they need to allow me to change some of my stuff like email and user id.

So your plan is to make everyone lose a ton of stuff rather than a minority? Your level of genius is astounding.

They should do nothing. Making any admittance, even in a ticket reply, would cause nothing but mass chaos that Nexon had been hacked. They'd never live this down. MapleSEA made this mistake and look at how that completely changed business operations for them. I'd certainly hope that Nexon would take the correct road.

Gonna have to disagree with this.

This is apparently what MapleSEA said:
" We understand your frustrations regarding the recent irregularities and
problems faced while playing MapleSEA, and sincerely apologise for the
inconvenience caused to all players.
Recent in-depth investigations have revealed that we were under attack from China and
to combat this problem, we have since upgraded our system and have
taken the following measures:
1. Consulted and engaged experts from various technological and gaming fields
2. Blocked all IP addresses from China to prevent further hacking
3. Upgraded and reinforced the security systems within our game servers
etc.etc."

MapleSEA admitted the problem, apologized, and made a convincing statement that they knew what was happening and were well on the way to fixing it.

Nexon America on the other hand has said next to nothing, other than implying that all the account hackings were due to player foolishness.
A lot of people already believe that Nexon was hacked, so them saying nothing just fuels the paranoia more, making people wonder if they are blind to what is happening, are completely incompetent, or just dont give a damn if a certain fraction of accounts get hacked. To me Nexon america's reaction to the situation seems no more than arrogant face-saving bs.

All items and NX returned, and wipe all mesos on the server for everyone. It's easier than figuring out what the hackers did with it (probably sold it to people). Hopefully they have NX transaction logs so they can punish whoever took the NX.

It shouldn't matter why they got their items stolen (Nexon's fault or player's fault), it's just good practice.

It's fairly simple in cases like Chirdaki's where the character actually got deleted... no question something fishy happened.

This. I don't play maple anymore, and it's probably the easiest way to BLANKET UNHACK everyone.

You left off the "die in a fire" option.

A 3 month roll back would be completely dumb. That would delete the whole server of Galicia, too. -_- There's a Lv. 19x there. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be happy dropping back to Lv. 1. F3!

Some preset amount. The first option would cause rage among the majority, the second option would take FOREVER, and true, while the third option will cause some rage, it'll help eliminate some of it. Nothing will also cause rage, and it would add to Nexon's reputation of being a "bad business."

I'd say some kind of godly hat (like +25 stats) each should be the compensation. Money would just cause mass inflation.

I'll only be sad because that is around the time I got a character to 70 in two months (as opposed to over a year being the average) and I probably won't do that again. Of course, I only did it for the ring... .__.

Maybe what they could do is give back all the stuff the players lost but make it untradeable, that way people can have their nice gear back but not have it have an impact on the economy.
