A question for guys...

I was wondering, what you guys (boys) think about girls with makeup.
In what sort of occassions do you think it's appropriate?
If you don't think much of it, why is that?

Oh, and skin care... on guys.

That depends. If they have a natural beauty, they don't need make-up. The only time make-up is really needed is when you're going out to something formal or you're ass-ugly. Girls with too much make-up are fugly as shi't. Girls with too little make-up are fugly as sh'it. I guess it's just depended on the amount they actually apply.

Hmmm. It depends (for me) on the girls eye and hair I would presume. Dark hair and light eyes accented with makeup really brings out a lot of nice features and stuff (probably wording this wrong). If they are blond, I dont expect much makeup normally, maybe some eye shadow, idk.

Skin care for guys, none really. Most guys dont do anything, some dont even wash their faces outside of the shower or when they need to (dirt and stuff). Though, some who have bad acne will use something, but not many will use cover up stuff.

A bit of foundation, concealer, eyeliner and mascara are enough for me. Lipstick if you are going out.

As a guy, I'm really picky on the type of girl I'm going out with. I won't tell them I am, of course. Anyways, I don't mind some little amounts of make-up, but dark lipstick for some reason, turns me off so much.. I just think any girl looks terrible with a dark-red color on their lips. I don't mind blush, but too much stuff on their face makes them look more like a performer. I told my previous ex's that I enjoyed being with them for who they were, not for how they looked. It's true. I actually preferred all of them without make-up, with make-up, they sorta look awkward to me.

Basically, zero to little on face is okay, lipstick is fine as long as it isn't dark or overly dark, too much scares me off... quick. It makes me think they're superficial too, if they apply way too much.. Not really into girls like that, I'd rather them be natural. As a guy though, I put on deodorant spray pretty often, and I use cologne when I do presentations in front of class. I also spike my hair pretty often, and I shave my lolmustache often. Facial hair. I do use lotion every once in a while, mostly because my hands are 'terribly dry', if I touch hot water, my hands turns red. I also use cream and other products to get rid of acne, I barely have any acne, actually.. But that's as far as skin-care goes for me.

If girls don't need to use make-up, then its fine. But if a girl likes to use a little make up and they don't use it to cover anything up but to improve the look a bit it's fine. A girl that's wearing so much make up she looks like a clown is defenitely do not want.

I use a acne cream every night, but that's because if I don't it gets fairly bad and it's damn annoying.

Girls with make-up is ok as long as they look fab or pretty or beautiful.

Im using Garnier men, oil clear right now since raging hormones is destroying my face . i used to use masks to make my skin farer. now that i think about it, i dont mind a tanned skin.

This. So long as the make-up is not garishly overdone, you're probably fine.

Skin care, on the other hand, is something everyone, regardless of gender, should be focused on since entering 6th grade. One of my biggest regrets in life is not doing enough for my skin early on, and now I'm paying for it with visits to a dermatologist and a multitude of products. Not to say that things don't get better, but the more you do early on, and stick with as the years progress, the better off you'll be throughout life.

EDIT: Make-up is not vain if it's done well. Actors and actresses all wear make-up in any scene of any movie/TV show, and I'm willing to bet they all wear make-up to big events such as the Academy Awards and the Grammys. Again, if make-up is done well, and only applied where needed, there's nothing to worry about. For example, to me foundation is a MUST, as it evens your facial skin tone and creates the gorgeous "porcelain skin" visage. But past that you may not need much. As Myles said, use concealer with blemishes and other imperfections, eyeliner and mascara in moderation to bring out your eyes, and lipstick (and in my opinion, light eye shadow as well) when going out. There's no need to go vaudeville every day, unless that's how you absolutely choose to dress. In the end, make-up and skin care is all about creating healthy, imperfection/blemish-free skin and bringing out facial aspects that identify you without bringing way too much attention to you.

The face works just as the breasts:
The more natural and self-confident you are about them, the better you look. Sure thing, eyeliner and mascara would sure help you, but that implies you're not confident enough with your own look, which is a turnoff, at least for me.

For a plain, event-free day, if I take conscious note that you are wearing makeup, then you're probably wearing too much make-up. If there's some sort of event, I'm far more tolerant, and most make-up won't bother me. Just no blue, green, purple, or other unnatural colors of eyeliner. Ever. Or glitter. pineapple glitter. I'm looking at you, fat Mexican chicks down the hall.

Make up is only acceptable in theatre, where you need it to bring out the eyes and emotion for viewers far away. Other wise its ugly

Formal - Yes, but to an extent. Too much = BLECH
Casual - Only if they look really tired/worn out/sickly

I hate anyone who wears more makeup than need be. Those girls who wear so much makeup that their face shines make me want to throw up all over their faces just so they will stop glowing.

I don't mind glitter, but weird eyeliner colours creep me out.

I don't use skin care products on my face, I use them on my hands. I enjoy having soft hands to the point where, combined with the fact my fingers are long and skinny, people tell me I have girly fingers.

um if they wake up Sunday morning and put it on then to only dag around the house the rest of the day. = vain in my eyes.

but if your question is how much is too much, if your orange from fake tan thats too much, less make up is better in my eyes as i believe its meant to complement a face/body. not give a false impression.

I got that question popping in my head the other day, because I was sitting in the food court of the part of town where the most Asians haunt, and I saw this guy who clearly had foundation on, and obviously it didn't suit his skin type/colour, and the infamous (bubble)teashop chain in town where girls at the counter wears outrageous makeup (with some cases where they have no idea where to put their fake lashes). Because I actually weighing the option of a career path as a makeup artist, and some of the most famous youtube gurus get pelted with comments like "teaching girls to be vain" kinda stuff. So I wondered what guys actually think about it. I have gone out with a guy who thought makeup is essential, whereas my current BF don't mind as long as I am happy with how I look. I am asking you guys these question which leads on the definition of vanity, because I am actually curious as to what people think vanity is, especially with guys.

So, from what I gathered so far...
1. So far in the discussion, I find that most guys think that makeup on everyday basis is too much?
2. It's not so wrong to use skincare products if you are a guy, maybe, if its just for acne and maybe moisturiser/aftershave?
3. Clown/kabuki-like makeup is a nono
4. some guys think it's because it suggests that girls are not confident about their looks.

My first ex was like that ^, I told her she looked way better without make-up. With make-up, I thought she looked like a b'tch, but I never told her the latter. Either way, she never really listened to me. <_< I think most girls are better if they look natural and without. It's mostly about their self-esteem and confidence, it's not required to have make-up. Sure, it's cute to have a little here and there, but over-using it and doing that almost daily is.. a little excessive.
