Recommend me some PC games
#1
I am currently at it in Oblivion, which provides MMO grinding without MMO bull$hit, and a good story to boot. I am also rediscovering Starcraft, and my Brood War is on its way to my house. I think once I get sick of these I'll try Sims 3 and Civ 4.

If somebody can recommend me some more PC games I'd appreciate it. I am specifically looking for RPG-type games, something that's relatively slow and has nice plot and good depth. If the game is old, that's ok, though I hope it's not so old that it required a DOS-type interface. Thanks!

Edit: Please no MMOs I am a recovering addict T_T

Try Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst, I think it has a nice story, personally. If there's a Phantasy Star Universe for PC, and there might be, try that too. Though I never played PSU.

Isn't Phantasy Star Online an MMO? I could swear I've heard of it as such, though I am not sure...

DrRusty: I would rather have a rusty nail shoved into my penis than play World of Warcraft.

It's the best MMORPG out there, but after being hooked on Maple for two years, I am a little hesitant to try an MMO that has been described to me as a "crack cocaine delivery system." I want something that I can put down on a moment's notice and I think WoW is a bit hardcore for what I am looking for.

Ever heard of a freeware game called Iji? It definately has a story, and kinda-sorta has RPG elements and character building... It doesn't look like much at first, but it's pretty fun. I recommend it. I would recommend Master of Magic as an old Civ-type game too, but you'd need DOS-Box to run that, so... yeah

Knights of the Old Republic perhaps?

If you don't mind shooty games, System Shock 2 was one of the best games I've played in a long time. It's rather expencive to legitamately buy it now though, and it has to be patched to run on XP/Vista/7. Amazing game though.

I think you should wait for Brood war then. Star craft was the 1st MMO I ever played (before I started playing Maple), and damn... did I have some fun playing UMS player made maps.

I hear WoW got to easy.

I don't know any not suckish games to recommend. Maybe, you can go outside? I heard its a fun MMO with 6 billion players and amazing UI.

Or you could just search google for good/recommended MMO's.

If you're into strategy gameplay and management ('sup Starcraft): Warcraft 3, Age of Empires 2 and 3, Age of Mythology, Sims, Zoo Tycoon 2.

PSO, PSOBB (Blue Burst), and PSU can all be played offline. You don't need online-interaction for the game to be fun. Going online doesn't do anything else except.. having people questing with you, etc

Team Fortress 2. If you are into FPS.

But since you are looking into slower things... What about any of the age of empires? A classic.

Nox is a great action/RPG too but that game might be extinct. Rise of Nation is another good RTS. Protip: never get games that were made after a movie. Nevar.
