what should i ask for for xmas?

now, yes, this is a serious question that id like some feedback and other ideas on.

my mother came up to me the other day before i went in to work, and she asked me what i wanted for xmas, an xbox 360, or a ps3. now i shirked her question skillfully and didnt give her an answer. the last time i ever asked for anything was 3 years ago when i asked for the laptop i currently have and am typing this thread from. now, since i was about 14 i wouldnt ask for anything, but still get stuff against my better requests.

now this leads me to my question. i am faced with one of three things to ask for this xmas: an acoustic guitar, an xbox 360, or a ps3. with either of the consoles i know several games that i would get, Fable 2 and L4D2 for the xbox, and MGS4 and Disgaea 3 for the ps3 just for starters (Which id pay for myself). now, with the guitar though, id need to get lessons, which one of three avenues for are available; a friend of mine i can hire somewhat, a co-worker of mine who plays jazz, whereas the former plays a rock style guitar sound, or i could find a teacher from some outside source.

so, this leads me to a sub-question to the main question: if i were to ask for the guitar, what are some things that i should know right off of the bat? any help is highly appreciated.

If it were me, i'd take the PS3. Only because i can't play the guitar, have no intention of learning how to play, and already have a 360.

In your case, i would take the 360 for obvious reasons.

From a purely monetary perspective, get which ever one cost more and use your own money on the lesser.

The guitar sounds nice. I used to be a hardcore gamer but somewhere along the way I dropped the habit and picked up a classical guitar. At least you don't need electricity to play it and powercuts happen here quite frequently.

No I'm kidding, if you don't see yourself suitable for a guitar it's best to do what you like. You can come over to a friend's and try out his to see how much of an interest it can spark in you.

the friend of mine used to be in a band, dunno if he still is or not, but i would hang out at a friend of ours place from time to time and i'd sit and listen to them play their own instruments, and i kinda fell in love with the bass. but, i dont want to shell out so much for an electric bass if im not entirely sure id be fully into it, so an acoustic guitar would be both a starter for me as well as a judge as to whether im capable of playing the bass and appreciating it. but more, i want to learn how to play to further my own writing, as most times i write things to song, and the flow and melody of songs. the emotion that the songs give off is something i more or less leech off of for some things to help me get motivated for something to write about.

plus, itd help facilitate my attempts at trying to become more positive and outward. be something to help get me out there and into the public eye more i guess.
