Your favorite childhood game.

So... Today I had a nostalgia attack and remembered all those game I used to play with my cousins and friends... My favorite was Hide & Seek and soccer.

step 2: have one person walk across the row of butts, then lie down at the end of the row
step 3: the first person in the row gets up and takes their turn to walk across the row of butts

Everyone shakes in fear when it's the fat cousin's turn to walk.

I loved playing tag when I was younger. It encourages people to run too. Great cardio exercise.

I used to play Uno with myself.

And Parcheesi, where I'd cheat and make rules up and stuff. Even though I was against myself, the piece I really wanted to win always go the upper hand.

She did it by strategizing against herself? LMAO. Problem here is, if you play against yourself, it's technically impossible to calculate a strategy or diversion. Because you already know what the other you is planning, and vice-versa. So it's rather pointless. But, I guess it depends on the board-games as well.

It's so fun running around my neighbourhood for no apparent reason

I lived in St. Louis, Missouri until I was eight years old. I grew up in a neighborhood with quite a few kids who were all my age, and I became great friends with three in particular. We did everything together. We'd play watergun wars, using the entire neighborhood as our battleground. Board games were as fun as they could get seeing how four people happened to be the limit for most of them. We'd sit in front of the N64 and play Mario 64 for hours, and whenever we died, we'd switch, and place bets on when our comrade would kill Mario using Halloween candy from the October before.



Out of all of our shenanigans, hopefully I'll never forget the stupid game involving freeze pops that we played every summer. It was simple; all we would do was see who could finish theirs the fastest, but we'd all go batshit crazy from not being able to feel the inside of our mouth. It was pretty intense, and I remember our parents gathering around us every now and then when we did it. At the time I thought they were actually interested in seeing who could finish the freeze pop first, but it wasn't long until I came to the realization that they were only amused by our reactions after the first bite into them.

I... I made up my own games for everyone to play. I was pretty weird as a lil guy. Like for example tag... On the lines. It was normal tag only you could only step on the lines drawn in our school's field. There were PLENTY, so it was amazingly fun. Jumping between them worked too.

Eventually, I added POWERUPS. It was just that the guy chasing everyone could drag a powerup whenever he wanted... And they were almost usually made up. We ended setting caps as a theme on them, since Mario64 came out recently. God it was so awesome. From Invincibility caps, to "everyone moves slower" cap. Incredibly, we somehow RESPECTED THE RULES, AS UNFAIR AS THEY GOT.

Then, on the place I spent my summers, I created a game called "PACMAN". Yes, I'm that original. It involved running around a swimming pool, or climbing the fence to go on top, near the water. There were POWER PELLETS on each corner of it, making the one playing as PACMAN able to chase the GHOSTS. It was awesome seeing everyone chase that one guy, splitting to corner him, and eventually run away as fast as they could when it reached the power pellet place. It was a paper bin (which no longer exist, by the way). We somehow developed the ability to know when the pellets expired and all...

Then, I sometimes made my own board games out of paper and VHS cassetes from back in the day, or even domino chain reactions with them... I remember one time when it went from my bedroom to the dinning room... Ah...

Oh, we're reminiscing now?

There was this huge freaking forest across the street from my house when I was growing up. I kind of lived in the boons but it was more like cottage country. There was a lake down the street one way, and two swamps down the street the other way. The forest was in between and houses lined the street opposite the forest.

The forest was in pretty poor condition and a lot of trees were dead so me and the neighbour kids who were all generally in the same age range as me (and we all had siblings that bridged such gaps) would go into the forest and pretend to karate chop the dead trees down. We would also hang out at the back of the swamp where there was a river and a really neat waterfall, as well as some beaver dams and stuff. It was pretty scenic.

There was also so fields directly behind the houses, and it was all hay. So we would play hide and seek in it, it got pretty intense sometimes but you could almost always hear us because it was such an open space and there was no traffic around. When the hay got bailed they left it out so we could climb around on it and hide behind it.

Winter was awesome, too, mostly, because the swamps would freeze and we could explore the little "islands" (just piece of land that were unreachable in the summer) and there was some pretty neat things to see. Come spring, when the ice was crackling and PRETTY DANGEROUS, we would take turns running across it. If anyone fell in we would spend a minute laughing before pulling them out. I remember one time we were doing it before school while waiting for the bus, and one of the kids fell in and didn't have time to go back home to change, so he had to go to school covered in swamp water. Our parents all scolded us for being dumb because it was so dangerous but it was a lot of fun and our snowsuits helped us float.
