As the days have passed since the Fort Hood shooting, many many insights into the shooters past and believes and such have come to light. Alot of these have to do with him openly talking about things a lot of people would have seen as an instant red flag to kick him out of the military, or even taken him to jail. One such example was a 50 some odd slide presentation he gave, which the topic of was supposed to be on a medical issue, but he decided to do it on Islam, and some stuff from the Quaran and stuff thats related. Which he stated such things as "non believers will have their skin boiled off with boiling water" and things along those lines. This presentation was made to a group of people at the medical group he was stationed at before he was at Fort Hood, and nothing was done about him afterwards.

So, the question is simple: is the need/want to be politically correct leading us to our own demise? This shooting is becoming more and more preventable it seems as more information comes out, but the fact that he was Muslim seems to be the main and only reason that no one did anything about him.

i think this particular event could've been avoided all together because of all the red flags, as you said. On the news, i heard them say that he had been talking on the phone plenty of times to a known person tied with al qaeda, yet, the govt dropped it because they stopped calling eachother.

Yes, he was also in email contact with the Emom (or whatever it is) that the 9/11 hijackers were conversing with before they did their hijacking.

There's a difference between political correctness and outright idiocy. You might want to use another example. Even though the literal interpretation is much appreciated.

Theres more than one example for sure, but this is easily the most talked about in recent days. I just dont feel like trying to dig out another couple of cases :c|

Given the pure fact that new information is still coming out, it isn't feasible to compile a realistic psychological profile on this guy and argue that he was mentally sane. Obviously the Fort Hood incident showed that he wasn't able to achieve his goals on a social level and therefore had to resort to violence in order to either let out his emotions or express how he really felt. But I'm pretty sure this is not an example of political correctness. Unless we're clumping together issues of race-tolerance, racial-profiling, and racism into the term "political correctness" which I'm not sure is quite correct.

When it comes to Muslim terrorists in this country, hardly anyone that's not a Muslim himself cares at this point. When a person sees terrorist act after terrorist act on the news, in various countries, and the perpetrators are invariably Muslim and usually arab, that person will form some un-PC opinions about arabs and Muslims. The Muslim and arab rights groups in this country cry foul, but Muslim charities have been found to funnel money to terrorist groups, and yeah, it looks bad. It's unfair to Muslims that don't want to have anything to do with terrorism, but very few people in this country fully trust their religion or ethnicity at this point. PC? No. Deserved? Yes.
