It's the Visual Novel that was suggested in the funhouse. There was a project recruiting period and after 3 days of people joining the project the thread was closed and work began on it. When more is complete we'll probably release some teaser material but at the moment it's just a big mystery for you. :p

Could you guys make it a subforum of Open Canvas/The Shady Tree? It's a terrible eyesore on the index.

Although we could always use some artists. Yeah. All of our artists are on hiatus.

Although I can release a teaser I suppose...

 What will it be?

It's already a subforum of that other forum. Moving it to be a subforum of a different one really wouldn't change the fact that the threads would be on the index. Not to mention then that it would be confusing to tell what threads were part of the project and which ones were actually in the Open Canvas/Shady Tree from the index as well.

I would make it invisible to regular users and just create a special group for the people working on it but it causes too many problems with the various other user groups that are in effect. For the time being this is the best option, prior to this it was off the index completely and people were getting lost on how to get to it. Until we can get the secondary user groups operational this is the best alternative. Besides it only adds like 32 pixels to the index height lol.

What? I mean put it like MapleGuides so that it's not on the index (except in The Shady Tree, of course). It shouldn't be confusing because anyone taking part in the creation of it is a regular to the forums anyway, I think the problem was that there wasn't any announcement of it's creation so it was just a question mark when it was brought up.

Anyway, new posts will show up, sure, but at least we won't have a locked forum taking up space and stretching the already-too-many-mouse wheel-turns of the lengthy index. It just makes things look cluttered. 32 pixels is a lot.

It's ugly.

It seems wasteful to have subforum of a forum that only has one project going with no foreseeable projects after this one, too. I could understand having a projects forum if people were constantly pumping out... things... but atm it's kind of pointless. The Chinchilla Project would be fine as subforum of The Shady Tree. Southperry Studios should be removed or made invisible until people are ready to dedicate themselves to a new project.

I've said project so much that it's lost all meaning. PRAJACT.

I don't think so. It feels more like "fk you guys trying to get me jealous , nahhh not working I don't give a pomegranate, it's how desperate you're showing off that pisses me". Tongue1

Then again, I could've been using my 'feeling' a bit so much lately judging music that I could've lost my senses of logic, which might have led to inaccurate judgments.

Either case, if it's serious enough a bother, it should be taken to Site Suggestion.

No, I just think it's ugly and makes the index look cluttered. I'm pretty sure I could get in if I wanted to help out with the novel, but I don't really have any desire to.

see, you're not making any sense to me. MapleGuides and Southperry Studios are both on the index in the EXACT same fashion as far as I can tell. Maybe you can screenshot the index from your end so I can see what you mean. I tried logging in on a regular user to see how it looks to everyone else, and when I did log in on there it said "Never" for last post, even after I input the password and accessed the forum. So if that's the case... I don't really see how it's annoying at all. Actually the first thing I did after putting it on the index was to ask people in IRC if the change annoyed them and for the most part people didn't even notice it.

Like I said, I was going to do something else but the feature's not working at the moment. This is mostly temporary until that gets working again. Also there was some talk about using Studios for more projects down the road, but that's a long ways off.

Isaac, just send me a list of everyone involved in the project and I'll do the rest.

Sorry, I meant the "Completed Guides" part. But that was when I was under the impression you thought that "categories" were forums and the forums were sub-forums. Later, while writing my post, I noticed The Chinchilla Project was a sub-forum of a currently useless and unnecessary projects forum. Sorry about the confusion I tend to forget what I've written after I write it, or else I would've amended that.

The main point of having a lock on the Chinchilla Project is so people who aren't a part of the project don't spam the forum, as far as I know. Having a locked forum on the index sends a bad message to new-comers, imo.

Since it's a writing project it rightfully belongs in The Shady Tree, and since there aren't any other projects going on a projects forum isn't currently useful.

Obviously it isn't going to be post-free forever so my point about the big blank space is moot, but the fact that you've got a forum just for a sub-forum seems fairly redundant. imo move chinchilla to be it's own forum or make it a sub-forum to ST and hide the projects forum until more projects are revealed.

Unless you've got a public use for the main projects forum planned out in which case you should post something there so people like me (okay we all know I'm the only one who would make a big deal about something so ridiculous) don't question why you've got 18 padlocks on a screen door when the primary door is steel and welded shut.

Didn't quite work how I imagined it would, but I fixed the database error Isaac.
