Strikers Vs Buccs
#1
Isn't strikers technically better at everything (training + bossing) due to sharks + critical?

Unless you plan on hitting 200 on ur bucc and doing PB. Otherwise strikers kinda ruin buccs dont they?

Pretty much, I personally never thought much of buccs. They are just a slower shadower lol

Sad to say, but it's pretty much what happens between Dawn Warriors and Heroes. Unless you're planning on training your hero pass lvl 145+, theres no much of a point on making one.

Well I don't know about training (I would think Dragon Strike's less range and longer cooldown compared to sharks would be made up by its massive damage), however my friend was very much interested in how a Striker's single target DPS compares to a Buccs.
 Spoiler
Do note that the numbers above are for a level 200 Bucc and a level 120 Striker. And also note that on a Thunder Weak monster, the Striker wins by a landslide (117k DPS with Barrage+2ED)

For those of you who are going to ask, yes, I do need to make a calculator for everything.

How the hell does 74,163 * 1.25 = 117k?

The problem with the newer classes is that they stopped accounting for Sharp Eyes. The strength of NLs with SE is balanced by their low damage without it. The strength of Buccs with SE is balanced by their inability to stun bosses. Arans and Thunder Breakers are pineappleing OP with it.

(then again, Thunder Breakers aren't really like Buccs. Buccs are like Shadowers with semi-godmode and strong, fluid mobbing power. Thunder Breakers have shiet avoid/lower accuracy and Shark Wave pales in comparison to Dragon Strike. They're more like Warriors.)

Well isn't this a downer?

Would love to change Stun Mastery to Critical Punch version now that I'm seeing this madness.

It's 1.5 to elemental weak.

Nevermind

Skill.wz would beg to differ. z is 50, which means it's 1.25 to elemental weak.

L> Critical punch for buccs with the same damage and chance rate as stun mastery.

well this is a downer... I knew SE was good for passive crits, but didn't think that it'd actually make a level limited class better at single dps than a full level 200 o_O

Yeah, suddenly my idea at powering up the Brawler class in MapleAdditions doesn't seem so overpowered. I'm still playing my class because I enjoy the playing style instead of power.

Buccs with SE would outdamage Heroes with Barrage + DS and hit about as much as Hurricane with Demolition...

Do want. Heart

They can increase guardian and achilles protection rates to 20 or 30% as compensation.

Since I have a thunder breaker at 120 and played it the whole way, not even partying a 4th job adventurer once, I can testify to them being very superior to the buccs at the same lvl range. Not only by damage, but the skills make them into something so much more versatile than a bucc that the comparison kind of fails.

Don't stare yourself blind on the math either. There's so much more to gameplay than potential DPS and such, for example, just because it tells us NLs are weak without SE doesn't mean I do not absolutely crush oblivion 4 solo. All is relative.

So they'd be a good deal stronger than the strongest melee class with 1v1. And be better at mobbing. And be able to semi-godmode. And have SI and Time Leap. How about no.

I bet you're rooting for Aran too. You just wanna keep all the damage to yourself. Meanie.

There's plenty of justification for ranged doing high 1v1 damage. I don't like Aran at all and don't plan on making one. I don't enjoy playing melee very much except Buccs/Shadowers.

Personally, I don't like Thunder Breakers. The only thing I really like about them compared to Buccaneers is Sparks and the Critical. Everything else is a big "meh." Plus, being stuck at 120 is as dull as hell, I know from my Dawn Warrior.

Best way to balance them both out would be to have a lower damage active crit for buccs, but have it do higher damage when stunned.
