Describe your class
#1
I have been thinking this for a while now. Basically, you'll describe your class, from any aspect possible, like what's your class all about, what is it capable of doing, where does it excel at, why do you choose it over other classes etc.

The purpose of this thread is for people who are new, or who wants to try a new class to have an idea of what they are getting, please keep this in mind.

I'll make some sections for each class later, and quotes from you guys will be put under the respective section.

Okay, go~

Gunslinger/Outlaw/Corsair

-Excels at single target damage, one of the top single target damage dealers
-Not the best at training during 1st-3rd job, gains useful mobbing skills during 4th job
-Mainly snipes monsters while training 1st-3rd job
-Capable of freezing monsters at long distances
-No party skills

I chose this class cos i really liked the idea of hopping into a battleship in 4th job lol. i just thought it was awesome ^^"
I suggest one to choose this class if they prefer to do lots of damage 1v1 over mobbing skills (although corsairs have some good mobbing skills, other classes can mob earlier)
i don't recommend one to choose this class just for rapid fire, as you wouldn't want to be using it instead of battleship cannon. (if you really like attacking fast, perhaps the bowmaster is the class for you)
.. and for those who are simply in love with the fast speed of double shot, the skill gets completely overlapped by burst fire in 3rd job, and the skill loses its fast attacking speed.

these are my ideas of this class. hope that's what you wanted OP lol. ;s

^Yes that's pretty much what I wanted, but not limited to. Basically anything about your class is welcome. I'll do the sections tomorrow, so fucking sleepy nowRolleyes

Brawler/Marauder/Buccaneer

-Is a jack-of-all-trades support class
-Has close melee attacks and very little range in the beginning, but yet have some of the longest ranged attacks for a melee character, and has very little trouble closing in on the enemy with abilities like Corkscrew Blow
-Has strong single target attacks, and very powerful mobbing abilities
-Is the one class that can achieve legit godmoding
-HP is not as high as a warrior, but about twice as much the hit points as Thieves or Archers
-High MP pool allows for more time before needing to chug an MP pot
-Very self-sufficient class. MP Recovery gives back MP, and Energy Drain gives back HP
-Transformed states offer little bonuses, but Super Transformation offer two excellent abilities
-Almost all abilities are on short cooldowns, meaning this class will almost never spam abilities
-The highest DEX:avoid ratio (1.5 per DEX)
-Hits high numbers, but are far from hitting as much single target (bossing) damage as a ranged DPS, or even a Hero/Dark Knight
-Relatively Low DEX requirement on equipment allows for funded to easily make DEXless Brawlers.
-Huge varieties of abilities; some like having their keyboard filled with abilities (I do), but some don't
-Oak Barrel works better than Dark Sight, but does not have a 100% miss rate.
-Attacks with their FISTS.
-Accuracy is rarely a problem thanks to the 0.9 ACCBig GrinEX ratio and +20 free accuracy from first job. DEXless Brawlers are far more doable than DEXless warriors.

I suggest this class to people who prefer playing for fun, not for damage. This class requires lots of thinking and improvising, because for your next action there can be several viable options that all work fine. The class has one of the highest learning curves in Maplestory, meaning it's easy to tell who worked their way up, and who leeched. I picked the class because it gave me what each class (Warrior and Thief) lacked from the other. The Brawler is a great hybrid of the two. High HP, fast attacks (combos), decent MP levels, able to travel with Haste like speed, less problems with accuracy than Warriors but are not snipers like Thieves. Regardless, sitting at 200+ accuracy as DEXless is very achievable. Brawlers can scroll for DEX instead of accuracy, which also heightens their amazing avoidability for a class with no need for LUK.

Party skills are unique, making it bar none a one of a kind class. The ability to godmode gives people flavor in how they want to play. Do they want to be really conservative on their potions, or do they want to maximize damage, or do they want to find a balance between the two?

Going by observations and pomegranate...

Paladin
- likes to argue
- knows his skill build is better, and has the numbers to prove it
- can out-dps a Hero... theoretically
- 4 weapon types to choose from, giving you 3 different ways to screw your character
- different strength at every element, resulting in a single balanced element and 3 weak ones
- have fun watching your friends fight bosses

Outlaw:
- High single target damage
- Slightly higher Hp than Thieves/Archers
- Recoil, Wings, and Dash
- Ice Splitter
- Octopus, so I don't have to drag people around every time I want to level.

Sniper:
- Iron Arrow, I am not a big fan of Arrow Bomb.
- Arrow Eruption - PINK ARROWS COMING OUT OF THE GROUND.
- Strafe looks cool.

Ice/Lightning Wizard:
- Teleport
- Thunderbolt
- Inexpensive to equip.

Shadower:

-Weak. (low dps on bosses)
-Avoids everything. (40% fake + natural avoid= lol godmode)
-Seduce mule.
-Smokescreen (lol godmode v2)
-low hp, tho we have Meso Gaurd..I have 12.5k hp pretty much to work with, tho I'm washed.
-Expensive as pineapple.
-Has Highest Damage skills in game. (Assassinate & Meso Explosion) LOL LOW DPS THO, TY NEXON <3
-Fastest leveling class after mages. (Taunt + mobs= win)
-Not party friendly at moving bosses example: pap, crow, Anego(Need hb mule to tank), and Bigfoot.
-lolshadower.

Mm....

Dark Knight:
-Hyper Body: Gets you in on any boss. (HBMule ftw.)
-Berserk: Sucks until like level 25+, but you can match Heroes with it and it's not that hard to do.
-Dragon Roar: BIG DRAGON! With pretty decent damage. (I think I can almost 2hko Skeles with an apple, lulz)
-Kind of low base HP, but you always have HB.
-Two distinctly different weapon choices. (Pole Arm vs. Spear)
-Easy to find training parties.
-Sacrifice is fun to play with
-Will get our asses kissed when it's time to Pink Bean
-Pole Arms are cheap, spears are expensive.
-Can KS Night Lords at Zakum (At least I can.) Tongue1

Hero:
-Brandish: Sexy mob skill.
-Shout: Absolutely useless
-Combo: Rivals Berserk when you have Advanced Combo maxed
-No new attack skills from 1st to 4th job. :[
-Don't need to keep your HP low to do bigdamij
-High base HP, coupled with HB = BIGHP.
-Expensive.
-Can also KS Night Lords at Zakum.
-Brandish has a wider range than Spear Crusher. (At least in my experience.) >_>

You can loot and pot in Oak Barrel; Dark Sight can't. The only things Dark Sight has over Oak Barrel is the 100% physical miss rate and the fact it can be spammed, as well as usable for long distances. Oak Barrel is a combination Dark Sight + Disorder, except the enemies still pursue you, but without the ferocity as before. Potting means you don't have to do a one-two-three un-DS + pot + re-DS. Looting in Oak Barrel? Highly hilarious to do.

What the f`uck? o_o

That's the complete opposite of true.

Claw Rogue/Assassin/Hermit/Night Lord

General:

- Uses ranged attacks
- Uses Throwing-Stars to attack
- Main stats are LUK and DEX.

Pro:

- Good DPS
- Fast Attacks (Booster Available in 2nd Job)
- Main attacks (Lucky Seven, 1st Job; and later Triple Throw, 4th Job) is not affected Mastery level, therefore making training easier for lower levels.
- Has Good mobility (Haste in 2nd Job, and Flashjump in 3rd Job)
- High Evasion (Nimble Body in 1st Job, and Fake in 4th Job)
- Good Accuracy (Through DEX and also Nimble Body in 1st Job)
- Critical Damage (2nd Job)
- Favourable in boss fights (Zakum, Horntail)
- Increased potion efficiency (Alchemist, 3rd Job)
- Can earn more money with a buff (Meso Up, 3rd Job)
- Has the ability to restore HP along with inflicting damage to enemies (Drain, 2nd Job)
- Good Escape Mechanism (Dark Sight, 1st Job. However, Magic Attacks by higher level monsters go through this)
- Loses the least exp of all classes during death (Since LUK is their main stat and LUK decreases amount of exp lost)

Con:

- Until 3rd Job when the skill Avenger is acquired, mobbing ability is very poor.
- Does not get many skills until 2nd or 3rd job.
- Glass Cannon (Unless HP wash is applied)
- Uses Throwing stars, which needs to be recharged (Gets a bit easier with Spirit Claw in 4th Job. However, unlike Bow-user's Soul Arrow, the skill still eats up 200 stars).
- In return for having their positive attributes, this is one of the (if not the MOST) picked class in all of Maple. Naturally, this implies the excess demand for items and equips make their equips and items especially harder to acquire, thus making life harder (especially in higher levels). Items that are expensive in this category include: Claws, Claw Scrolls, Equips, Materials for making Claws, Throwing-Stars, etc.
- In addition to the overpriced items, many who use this class also tend to abuse the power and Kill-Steal other players, and thus the overall opinion of this class is bad.
- Throwing-Stars, the main item used for attacks, does not drop often from monsters and as said, items relating to this class are expensive, so stars will also be expensive.
- The third Job skill CopyCat, consumes a summoning rock each time used, and the rocks can be expensive or difficult to get when player has not done quests or is not in the El Nath region.
- Despite having skills such as Drain, Alchemist, Meso Up, and Fake available, this class will still be poor due to costs of items as mentioned above, and the Meso-saving skills are not available at least until 2nd Job.

Personal Opinion:

When I chose this class, it was the transition from Beta to oMS, and by then I have really gotten tired of the slow pace of training as a Warrior (Spearman-to-be) in Beta, so I wanted to play a class that would be fun. Naturally, I heard that this class is fun, so I went ahead and picked this one over the other classes. Back at the time, 3rd Job did not exist, therefore, the other classes did not interest me as much as this class. As said, this class is capable of dealing good damage from afar, and at a fast rate too. This did indeed make the class really fun to play with since there is haste (There were basically no other speed/jump modifiers in the post-beta period except if you use 10% shoe scrolls), as well as a strong critical attack.

However, even though the choice was perfect for having fun, it was also my greatest mistake of all. Given that they are the most popular class with the most expensive items, along with Maple growing over time from a small community into a high population; this class was hated beyond imagination and even though I was not one to KS or wage wars, people would still think poorly of me just because I was an Assassin. Moreover, as 3rd Job and 4th was released, the Hermits/Night Lords are still showing the same arrogant attitude towards all other players, which makes the entire class look even worse than ever (Plus, the prices of items increasing non-stop, which makes it harder to get stronger).

Paladins:
-Not for the feint of heart.
-Can theoretically be the strongest warrior class in many seperate areas of the game, but can also be the worst in many other areas.
-Must have patience to make your way through the leveling process.
-Can be difficult at times, but can be the opposite at others.
-Consists of many times of people telling you that you either suck or are insanely awesome.

Cleric/Priest/Bishop

Pros:
- Very self sufficient, can go from levels 33-120 without using a single HP pot.
- Fastest 4th job training speed in the game
- Wanted in parties
- Wanted at bosses
- You can always sell leech for meso (though I laugh at those bishops, since farming time pieces is almost guaranteed to be more profitable, even on 1x drop)
- Easy levels for every other character you own
- Amazing mobbing ability
- 5 of your skills have sprites of angelic girls if you're into that sort of thing.

Cons:
- Lowest 1v1 DPS in the game, even on holy weak.
- Getting to 200 is not as great of an accomplishment as it is for any other class.
- You get pretty bad exp at bosses
- You get virtually no exp in seduce party
- Shut down versus anything holy immune
- People care more about your HS than they do about you
- Getting to 200 is pretty much only for bragging rights, a 150 bishop functions the same as a 200 bishop at bosses and when training. You only get 1 new skill to mule.

Gunslinger/Outlaw/Corsair

Pros:
- Amazing 1v1 DPS
- Inexpensive to fund
- Wide variety of unique skills
- Good mobility off the battleship
- Each job advancement gives you a huge leap in damage (compared to most other classes)
- Fairly good at mobbing 4th job
- Can freeze monsters
- Can stun monsters immune to freeze
- Cannon and Torpedo have no minimum range
- Homing Beacon lets you effectively fight bosses like HH and Black Crow without hitting surrounding monsters.
- SEAGULL AIR RAIDS!

Cons:
- Damage takes a huge dip when your boat breaks
- Takes practice to effectively mount and dismount the boat
- Extremely low damage 1st and 2nd job
- No Party skills (aside from the common class MW)
- Most people have no idea of your damage potential

gtfo my tvtropes D:

kidding of course, always glad to meet a troper.

I'd argue though that they're more along the lines of Fragile Speedsters.

It's true that glass cannons are characterized by their strong damage with very little HP. However, if you look at their numbers, the numbers themselves aren't all that big. It's their # of hits that really makes those moderate numbers add up. And that's the defining trait of the Fragile Speedster.

Fragile Speedster Wrote:(though they may make up for it by hitting twice as often or more)

That also ignores the monetary aspect... NLs have a lot of skills aimed at saving cash. Dark Sight, Drain, Endure, Meso Up, Alchemist, Shadow Shifter, and Shadow Stars come to mind Tongue
