MapleStory DS is as old as my mother. When are they going to make actual progress on it? -_-

DS is old news. You can't come out with a DS version of a dieing game, especially if it's not as cool as the online version.

As for Kart Rider-

It is a big game in Korea, and lost money in the US.

Launching a game a second time won't make it any better. And even if it did, it is still too soon.

All I can say is-

MapleStory with the help of Mabinogi, are the only games Nexon has going for them. They will die off eventually. Pretty soon actually, and then Nexon will call it quits, or start publishing "pay to play" games.

If Kart Rider didn't make it in the US, Dungeon Fighter definitely won't.

And Combat Arms has too much competition... It's too hard to make a successful Online FPS these days without uniqueness. And Nut Shots won't do it.

Review of MapleStory DS and Mabinogi for XBOX 360.
========================================

I have seen videos of the Korean MapleStory DS, and all I can say is, it doesn't look anywhere close to as good as the online game.

This does in fact seem like it will bring more users to the online version though. Which may give MapleStory Online a couple more years.

The sequel is never as good as the first. And some games just belong on one system.

Take Animal Crossing for instance...

Animal Crossing started out on the Gamecube, and a couple of years later, came out for the DS.
A bunch of new features, but just didn't cut it for me. I barely played it at all.
Then they came out with Animal Crossing for the Wii, which I didn't play as much as the first, but more then the second.

All I can say for Mabinogi for the XBOX 360 is-
They better come out with this game fast, but at the right time.

They have plans for a future system, and new games are coming out for XBOX 360.

If it is going to take as long as MapleStory DS, which still isn't even available in the US, it won't be successful.

If they release it too soon, they might also lose money depending on what games are coming out at the time. *Haven't seen a good consel game in a while*

Especially when they let hackers run rampant and you have to pay 5.8k nx PER WEEK to be able to kick them from a game...

They should make an online tactics RPG. Not too many of those around. If they got the market on 2d games... They should get the market on something unique and unusual... Something that brought the spark on MS.

Haven't played in a while, but yes, hackers is another reason I stopped playing.

What is the point of playing with a bunch of people who cheat when you are playing normally?

I can't believe they still haven't gotten rid of them. :f6:

They released it without a cash shop, and without speed tracks. Of course it didn't earn money.

I dont think they even released it... For all I know it was cut off when it was still a BETA.

When I say lose money, I didn't mean because they sold NX.

I meant the user population. The game was too expensive to run with as little users as it had.

You can't run a game for free, even Betas (Why do you think there is Cash Items in the first place? Nothing is free in life). If people don't play the game in beta, how are they going to keep it alive when they open the real thing?

Yeah, Maple is a dying game. That's why they constantly add new content and tweak the old content. And there's a huge player base. And they made 35% more in July apparently.

The company overall made 35% not just MapleStory. Take the 3 games they still have now, and divide it evenly. Comes out to roughly 12% each.

How much did Nexon make last year? Did they show you that number? Cause that's what really counts.

I could say I have a dollar and then find another dollar from the floor, and say I made 100% of what I had.

And did you see how many games they shut down last year? ~2. Big money loss.

So you can't say MapleStory is not dieing just off those numbers.

You have to look at the whole picture.

Nexon is a company, not just 1 game but many. Just because 1 game does bad, doesn't mean another isn't doing good.

And as more games close, more will arrive.

Why do I say MapleStory is dieing?

Because I've been here from the beginning. I can tell. Look at the choices they are making for the game.

Look how desperate they are being with Cash Items. If spending ~30 dollars for a pixel chair isn't a desperate cry for hope that NX whores will buy the product, I don't know what is.

Look at the two newest servers, how are they doing? By the looks of it, not good. New users usually pick the most populated server, or the newest. I don't see any of them growing.

Nexon had more active users when they didn't have Ads. Now look at all the Ads they have. They don't seem like they are working to me.

Did you ever log on when Cygnus came out? From 5 EST on, you couldn't get on Scania without getting a message saying that the server is very crowded and you may get lag. I haven't gotten that message for, oh, two and a half years.

Maple is definitely not dying. Trust me, Scania's still as crowded as it ever was >_>

Maple is always dying for the people that happens to be bored with it at the moment, no matter what the numbers tell them.

Maplestory is in a constant state of dying/growing. I do agree they seem to have become in some sort of a rush now, due to the fact they have almost put 70% of KMS adds into GMS in a matter of much, MUCH less time.

Dying ends in death, so it cannot be shifting between dying and growing. It simply has its ups and downs.
