Or .RARs for that matter. This is really pissing me off, what do I do to fix it?

Maybe opening Winzip, and selecting "new" or something? Dunno, it could be worse.

Well, a friend gave another friend a copy of Winzip compressed as a .zip ... Back on Windows 95 or so.

Reinstalling winrar should fix it automatically, If it doesnt, you can manually add the button using TweakUI (TweakVI if you are using vista) but thats kinda complicated. Try reinstalling winrar.

Wouldn't just adding/changing the registry key be easier?

Check whether there's a possibility that you haven't integrated winrar into your shell.

"Adding\changing the registry key" is actually quite complicated, you need to create a default .rar file and a default .zip file and then add it two registry keys to the new menu handler.

You can just reinstall winrar in 30 seconds and thats it. Or try the shell integration thing, but im not sure if its that because usually "shell" is referring to the the buttons near the "Open" button.

But it's possibly that context menu thingy over there.

Well, with TweakUI all you have to do is click "Add" and select the template.

Windows button + R => regedit
Under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, you'll find a .zip-folder. Right click that folder, and make a new key. Call the key ShellNew. Now right click the ShellNew-folder, and make a new string-value: "NullFile".

Fin. Takes less time than downloading, installing, adding that single thing and then uninstall it again because you never use it anymore.

I can't see the image for some reason, but... can't you just install some other archiving program?
