ANNOYING Lag!
#1
I had this lag ever since I received my computer. I tried many things to fix the problem including all the fixes provided in the stickies here, but NOTHING seems to work. Some people pointed out before that the problem came from my graphics card and/or RAM.

Some Specs:

Windows Vista Home Edition Service Pack 1

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

Memory: 2 Gigs of RAM

Processor: AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+

-Yes, I keep my computer spyware/virus free (I scan completely daily & never visit untrustworthy sites)
- I noticed from the Windows Task Manager that my Physical Memory's Cached reaches max (Total) often. (when it does my computer shuts off and I get a "crash dump" screen)

I would appreciately ANY advice, suggestions, WHATEVER. I just need help please. I'm going to be miserable since I can't smoothly train.

~~ If you want to know something about my computer to help me solve the problem, feel free to ask! I want to get this fixed ASAP. Thank you!!

Theres your problem. Integrated NVIDIA solutions = bad for Maplestory.

I suggest buying a sub $100-150 Video card and use that.

Also, update Vista to Service Pack 2.

He hit the nail on the head.

There are a lot of pretty cheap graphics cards out there that'll do what you need them to do. If you want something that'll last you a little while, go with what he said and aim for the $100-$150 range.

If you are running out of memory often, you could always try increasing your virtual memory. (Manually, to 2-3x the Windows "recommended" amount.)

It's not the best solution, but it helped me, and it's lots cheaper than buying a new video card. And I don't lag from my video card/RAM anymore, except after 2 hours+ at Zakum with summons flying around, when I'm pretty certain my video card is much worse than yours. (I lag from my internet, but that's different.) My video card was integrated into a bottom-of-the-line laptop bought 4 years ago. So yeah. Goggleemoticon

I'll try the Service Pack 2 idea. Dunno about buying a video card D: sounds expensive.

Interestingly, I have a similar specification computer (3800+, 1GB of RAM, same integrated card). The graphics card will cause MS to be laggy, but you can significantly improve the performance by following the steps outlined in this post. Hopefully that will fix your problems.

Thanks, I installed that when I was searching the forum for help and it worked perfectly :]

Although my computer freezes a lot even though MS doesn't lag anymore.
