How important is sex(ual intercourse) for those of you in sexually active (or inactive) relationships?
When is it, "too much" or "too little" for you?

Sex is never too much. Sex is actually very healthy for you. It'll give you a good work out. Too little sex is when you get less than 10 times a month.

I assume that probably means you'd be seeing your partner on a day-to-day basis. Which 10 would seem a minimum for sure.
I've been dwelling on this for the past day or so. For two people who don't live together like me and my girlfriend, and I see her 2~4 times a week, choosing to do things together publicly or staying indoors and being alone seems to always lead to the latter option, and I'm not sure if I should be worried about this or not, as far as relationships go? ( < To anybody). Since this is the first time I'd ever consider myself sexually active, will this pass or...? 'Cause I don't want it to be all that.
Given, it is important, but finding a balance seems difficult. :f6:.

Depends here. I think it is important, I don't think there's such of a thing as too much, but just more like too little. A friend told me once "If you feel like you 'dont' want to have sex with the girl you like, that means you're not that attracted to her as you thought". Made sense to me.
Not to say that there aren't couples out there that doesn't have sex often, but I'm just stating that you should if you like the other person. Now, if both of you don't want it, it's debatable.

too much of it = relationship just becomes about sex = you two are just f'uckbuddies.
There is such a thing as too much.

If my girlfriend lived even a mile away from me, we'd be very sexually active, kekeke!
Surprised you weren't the first post.
Anyway, as mentioned before, sex is very healthy for your body and it's important in strengthening your bond in a relationship. Sure, people have sex just because it feels good, but sex is also extra special when it's with someone you really love.

(14 year old here, so the fact that I've never actually had sex is gonna influence me a bit. ;p)
Thinking about it, it depends on the people involved. If they're having sex because their relationship has gotten to a point where having sex means something to them, then it's important.
If they're having it for the heck of it, and it has no basis in their relationship, it's meaningless.

Surprised this is coming from you.
I think it depends how far in a relationship you're in. If you're newlyweds, f'uck each others brains out. If not, it'll be more casual.

Oh~? Why, I'm flattered! *gasp* Just kidding.
But yes, I can understand Opeth, completely.
In response to Fiel's post:
I think you're partially right, but not fully. If you love the other person, and they want to have sex, it's up to both people, right? Which is how things works. But if the couple is only in on the relationship 'for' the sex, then yes, I understand. But if they love each other and has reached that sort of commitment, if they wish to have sex daily, well, that's of their own choosing. Just my opinion though.

That's what I'm saying. I wonder where that line is drawn. I guess it should be obvious but it seems to be more than just black and white for me.

With the post above, this is where I'm conflicted. When is it not special and just becomes..."Hey, let's me up and have sex."
Anywho, this isn't a problem for me. I was just thinking about it lately because...well, I just was.

Personally, I don't care how anyone treats sex. If you want to have sex with no strings attached then do it. If you're smart enough to not screw up and get her pregnant, then you should be able to enjoy yourself.

I guess it depends. Some might think that a lot is enough. While other think the opposite. Like many have said before, too mecanic sex is wrong. But making love to express love is a total different thing.

It's a question of common sense, to be honest. It's like asking how do you determinate someone is good or bad. It varies from points of view and the context.

Hm. I'm not gonna lie: the majority of my week is spent away from my fiance, but when we are able to spend time together, I'd say sex is fairly high on the "to do" list (horrible pun intended.) If I spend a weekend with my fiance and we don't have sex once, I'd wonder: a) is he cheating on me, or b) what did I do to make him upset. Unless of course, we're in a situation where having sex is not an option (spending the weekend at his auntie's small place, for example.)
I love him to bits, but seriously, we aren't "making love" every time we have sex. If he's had a rough day, I'll have sex with him to help take his mind off stuff. Same if I've had a bad day. And really, sometimes I just want him to pull my hair, bite my neck, and get me off. Yes, it's nice and special when it's hot and heavy and passionate and "oh God, I love you," but realistically it's not going to be like that every time.
Too much sex = when you've had so much sex your no-no zone starts hurting (and not in a good way) or when he's too spent to keep it up. And obviously, when it starts getting in the way of work, school, family, friends, etc. Otherwise, pineapple like rabbits if you have that kind of stamina.

It's important and fun, but the relationship shouldn't be based on it alone.
Like many have said, to me, there isn't "too much" or "too little" sex. Just do it when you want to, don't do it when you don't want to, stop when you want to or keep going until you can't breathe.

It does come down to common sense when it's too much. I think the line is when you start to think "all we do is have sex" and start to miss conversation and doing things together. From my experience, THAT is too much sex.

for me, sex in a relationship is a benefit, not the basis of the relationship, as my ex thought. he thought that if we never have sex the relationship will never, ever work. he didnt want the relationship to develop more so we didnt rush into things, he just wanted me in bed, which i found as a huge turn off.
however, if there is completely no sex in a relationship, then there can be tension involved, which can then break a relationship, if with certain people.

I find it funny how people judge someone based on their actions in a spam part of the forum. It's like he can't have fun in his own way in that forum and also be a caring and sweet guy! Shocking. I'm mostly joking, but I do still find it funny how someone gets judged based on antics in the Funhorse.
Anyway.
All the people above me have already said everything there is to be said.
So, I just want to note on how interesting it is that something as simple as sex can be how complex it can be. At it's simplest sex is no more than with another person (or more depending on if you're into that) that can relax you. Basically a wham, bam, thank you mam/sir, and no matter how close two people are they always have this type of sex every once in a while. Like someone said above me that release after a hard day can do wonders.
And then at it's most complex sex can be something that bonds two people (or more depending if you're into that. lol) together in a way you can't get anywhere else. And just like with the quickie form of sex this is something couples have every once in a while, but having six-hour marathons everyday when you have stuff to do just isn't very good.
Just like with the relationship itself a balance is the best, with some plain old cuddling throw inbetween for good measure.
And each person has their own definition of what is too much and what is too little, the best thing to do is just to do your own thing.

Woo. You guys are amazing. Thanks for everyone's comments, they really did help. I feel a little bit more sure of the path I'm most comfortable with, now, to be honest.
<3 :o
P.S. Six-hour marathon? Lawl.
