Overpot Zerking
#1
Just an idea I was toying with earlier -
Is it possible to zerk a boss that can 1hit you in your zerk range, but can't at full HP?

Prime example - Anego.
18k slap = impossible to Zerk and survive, but very survivable with a bit of blood-building/HP washing.

Is it possible to simply watch for attack animations and overpot before they hit, knocking you into your zerk range, and also leaving you invulnerable for a few seconds, or are you doomed the instant you see the animation? I guess what I'm really asking is "Does animation imply that you've already been hit, as it does for our attacks (if you don't believe me, watch someone Ult, then try to kill the monster before the damage shows up), or does it only calculate damage when you see the numbers? I know with most magic attacks, animation means you can't escape the hit, but I don't know how this applies to the damage itself.

If it is possible to watch for attack animations and then pot, it *should* be possible to zerk almost any boss if you are experienced enough to know their animations. I'll test this on Anego when I have 19k hp with HB, using Power Elixers. I'm pretty confident she won't do over 18.5k damage, so I should always be left with enough HP to attack a few times before potting again to repeat the process.

Damage to you doesn't happen until you see the damage.

Lol @ PA DrK killing Anego in 1hr no apple? Considering my Pap times average 33mins, it's possible...ish...

I'm not talking about dodging her attacks, I'm talking about overpotting before each attack, then attacking in the resulting zerk HP range until her next animation. It was also meant as a single example of a larger concept. I personally could care less about killing Anego, it's more about killing 15k+ damage bosses in general.

Get the equips that allow you to deal 15k without being in Berserk. Problem solved.

I already can. That isn't the issue, and doesn't help with what I'm asking. If you're going to be a smartass, please don't post.

^ wat!

Mas, I wouldn't recommend what you're doing unless it's a boss with slow attack animations. Anego hardly seems like the best idea to try it on >_> Actually I wouldn't even recommend this at Pianus (I'ma Chargin' Mah Laz0r...). I'll look further into your idea though, I'm sure there's a place where it can be applied safely, such as Pink Bean...

Your reaction time would have to be prime to do it at Anego...she slaps really fast. :f6:

Works pretty fine for zak (Well, I'm rushing into zak instead of potting though)

Should work fine for PB, as it has a long skill/attack animation sometimes.

I dunno if it's fair to compare a Paladin Rushing to a DrK, since the Rush skills themselves are different, and you don't have to be afraid of biting it if your Rush doesn't make it far enough. Frown

Um, how are they different, aside from weapon usage? o.O The range, MP, and damage are the same. Especially the range. Yup, no special range privileges for DrKs.

Also, Rush is a dangerous skill to use if you have a mortal dread of touching monsters for damage.

Also also, rushing into Zak with low HP and then trying to immediately pot before touching it = phailure.

For 1 hour staring at angeo and strike your pot key like a freak once she moves? No, just no.

Anego: her slap is hella fast and you'd have to anticipate it to overpot and survive rather than just react to it and pot. However Fury is out of her slap range anywho so you could just pound on her that way just taking her 5kish magic attacks. I guarantee you'd die zerking her trying to anticipate her slap.

Pap: He has an animation right before he summons bombs. So if you're on top and see this and you can't take a top bomb hit, you can pot pretty effectively before taking the 8-9k hit. I used to do this before my threshold could tank a hit.

You absolutely won't be able to zerk BodyGuards, just not in the cards for DrKs

I can't really think of any other boss dealing super high magic damage that you would have to worry about during zerk except for of course HT.

You might want to consider the use of rush whenever you see the slap animation.

Even better, why can't you just rush it to the left wall and tank the 11k touch by jumping around her? I think that's a similar strategy to CWKPQ where DrKs tank the bosses so that they won't get stunned in the process.

Watch closely at 0:41. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1Dj4Bgvt0k

If only Anego's slap distance didn't exceed that of Fury right?

I cant say for all skills, but sin's drain for example gets HP back as you cast it. In fact, many skills work that way. Sometimes, I throw TT from a far distance and I see the exp comes up before it fully connects.

That's primarily something that is due to the connection between client and server. From the moment you hit your attack key, the server registers how much damage you did and instantaneously issues that damage to the monster. The animations for something like TT can't possibly keep up with that, so that's why you'll see the exp beforehand. Same thing with Drain.

She can still slap you at max Fury range. Unless they've changed this in the past 8 months. That or PA Fury somehow has greater range than Spear Fury.

He's talking about monster skills though; those generally don't do damage until they're intended to in their animations.

Assuming her slap is 17k, you can't survive it with any HP at any level of Berserk with any level of Achilles (unless you load on DEF, or until they raise the HP threshold again). You could always sit on her and take touch damage instead of taking slaps.
