2x drop not entirely increasing drop rate for area bosses?
#1
I'm not sure. I may just be paranoid.

This has happened the past couple times I've used 2x at Chimeras. My most recent one is plain silly.

Over ~80 Chimeras I picked up 3 Cape HP scrolls, and 3 Cape DEX scrolls. That means I average about 1 scroll per 10 Chimeras, although the first two rounds yielded absolutely no scrolls. However, when my card expired, I still had 18 more Chimeras to wipe out. On THAT run, out popped a Cape HP, and an Overall LUK. I mean, wtp? Why couldn't I have gotten a good Overall scroll ON the card, and why 2 scrolls in one run on 1x when I had 2 dry runs on 2x?

I am not sure if it's significant enough to determine, but I had a crazy theory that perhaps the fact ETC drops and Elixrs(+Mana) are doubled in rate, it may have pushed off the drop rates for scrolls to the extent that they are rarer to find on 2x than on 1x. Can that possibly happen, or perhaps I'm just coming up with a wacky conspiracy? Goggleemoticon

ignore the inaccuracy of this data,

but let's just say for the heck of it that the chance of getting a overall luk from chimera is 0.05%.

With the 2x card, it would then be bumped up to 0.1%.

Does that mean you'll get one for sure with the 2x card? No.

Just because the drop rate is doubled doesn't mean it's automatically a 100% chance of getting it- you still have the 0.1% chance of getting it.

However, if it had a 0.05% chance without the card, that would mean that it's still possibly to obtain it as a drop, regardless of the smaller drop rate of it.

understand?

I got 5 scrolls on 1x, none on 2x. Go figure.

Yeah, your sample size is way too small for such a small chance. That's like wondering why you passed a 10% right after failing a 70%.

Ick, good thing to know I'm no the only one. I'll blame my poor 2x drops then on plain bad luck. Frown

Most area bosses have atrocious droprates to begin with. However when I was on 24-hour 2x drop, I found quite a few double drops from some, including Kimera. I even found a few scrolls in a row from, along with equips from Seruf, which usually almost never gives me anything compared to other area bosses.

In the end, it's all just luck.

One time, I decided to get lots of 2x drop. A 30 day 4 hour drop to go with my 30 day 2x exp. (Same times, so I got items while training.)

I trained at spiders for almost 20 levels. The only ilbi I saw drop was from a random fire mage that came in and decided he could take the bottom. Out of about... 20-22 days (I spent time at voodoos first to max BoT.) that was the result. Got barely any scrolls, and they weren't good. Mostly got gear. And only rare ones was 2-3 black rabs. Yay? Rolleyes

My gf who got 2x exp only, and did all 30 days at wolf spiders got 6 ilbis in those days.

Idk if it's just my horrible luck, (I've had it my whole life.) but I'm hoping it's not and that there's just some mistake. I hate it when money goes to waste too... Mad

I've been playing from beta til now, and needless to say, I hunted MM quite a bit. Yet when I decided to stop by for fun, an Ilbi pops out. First and only ilbi from MM in 5 years worth of hunting.

Also, there're days when I get nothing off wolf spiders whereas there're other days where I just pop in and an ilbi drops.

Moral of the story: having an increased drop rate does not guarantee anything other than possility.
