You tried reseting your computer, and not just MapleStory ... right? Chances are good that some of the processes HackShield employs become "stuck" if MapleStory fks up.
Other than that, I have no idea.

Could be. I hate restarting the fossil since it takes a while to boot up sometimes but I'll give it a shot. If that doesn't fix it do I blame Hackshield or my graphics card? ._.

Possibly a little of both. I've noticed some areas remaining black for me (on XP and Vista) when Alt-Tabbing from Maple, though nothing quite as drastic as Firefox windows being junked up as some reported. So HS definitely has some impact on graphics, whether stuff like you experienced or just having its icon remain black in the system tray.
I would say your problem looks like a graphics glitch (objects not appearing where they are supposed to be), possibly caused by graphics memory corruption or running out of memory. If so, a restart of the computer should fix it, if only temporarily.
(I had a similar problem except the entire MapleStory window became white and I could not see anything. This was inside VMware, however, and only happened when I left the game minimized for a long time, like hours. HackShield forced me to quit using VMware, though, so that problem solved itself.)
