Base .wz is corrupt

Title, Whenever i tried to download the new patch on my laptop(vista), i get that error.

I re-installed maple, got the same error.
Did a scan of Base .wz, got the same error.
It could be an error with the patcher , i might need a .68 to .69 pre-patcher.

Anyone see this before?

An SS of the problem would be nice, since what I'm about to talk about may or may not be what problem you have.

I had this problem before with Character.wz. The problem was the file itself (CRC error for those who care; they are what ensures that the file contents aren't corrupt), whether the bytes were corrupt or it was written on bad sector on the hard drive, I never knew. But I ended up having to completely wipe out character.wz (after salvaging as much as I could with my magical coding skillz), uninstall MapleStory, then reinstall again. Not fun.

I'm assuming Base.wz is the first thing the patcher tries to load up and rewrite.

@ Kajiti- no offense but that wasnt helpful, i said i had re-installed maple(twice). and also, i dont have "magical coding skills".
Also, The manual patcher just stops at Base .wz

You sure you actually uninstalled first? (you never said you did) The system would probably just attempt to overwrite Base.wz instead of making a new one if you didn't actually explicitly delete Base.wz before re-installing. Also, "magical coding skills" or no, I was a complete noob with all the troubleshooting with my error, but I still managed. My "magical coding skills" had nothing to do with patching to the next version, only to salvage the old version file.

No offense taken, you're just frustrated I take it.

Did you delete EVERYTHING from Maplestory? The Nexon folder and a couple of registry stuff (deleted it in Ccleaner)?

I went the MapleStory folder[NOT Nexon because my brother has Combat Arms in the same folder, which i 1.7G, too much/too long to re-install], highligted/ deleted everythin [emptied recycling bin], i started to install again(there was nothing to unistall), now im having a problem with the installer, it just stops at Extracting:MapleStory.msi.

Try downloading this and fix the registry errors, after uninstalling and deleting the Nexon folder. Also, try downloading the client, not using your old mssetup to reinstall.

I had the same exact problem when I tried to patch. I had to redownload the client, and then reinstall. Took about 5 hours to do so. Just save it in a different place; Don't try to overwrite your current maple folders and files, as you will still get the base.wz corruption error.

If he deleted the old folder already, then he wouldn't have needed to overwrite .

Okay, I had that same problem too, if it freezes at the end of "Extracting MapleStory.msi". Actually what I just did was just wait a fking long time, then the computer was eventually able to move on xD (there's probably a 2nd period where the computer apparently freezes, but just wait it out too)

While recounting my reinstallation adventures with him, Fiel mentioned something about just stopping at MapleStory.msi, locating said file, then doing something that I'm not familiar with. I dunno, you'll just have to ask him if you can't be arsed to wait up to an hour for the above solution.
