Banned for Shadow Webbing Himes
#1
What title Say.

Letter I sent to Nexon:

Dear Nexon,
Hello my name is J****, let me tell you a little about myself. I am a lvl 158 N/L that is 100% legit. Recently I came back from my break of 4 months. Anyways I was recently shadow webbing himes with my friend B******. Shadow webbing himes you may ask, what is that? Simple what you do is that you have to have lvl 10+ shadow web and hit all himes and gather them at either end of the map. Once the himes are gathered at either side of the map you start shadow webbing them. Once they are all shadowed webbed you Flash Jump two or three times away from the mob(this can work with any type of monster). What this does is it freezes the himes(or mob) in place allowing them not to move. Now to my story: I was killing black crow; I had himes shadow webbed and I was killing the crow. When all of a sudden around 5-10mins into killing, I disconnected. I thought nothing of it, so I went back to the map where I was killing to recast shadow web because if you go out of the map the himes get unshadow webbed. Well I was starting to shadow web again when bam, I was perma banned. I would like to know if you can get banned for this cause I was. Also I was wondering if I can get unbanned since I was not using any third party programs. Also if you do not believe me I can come show you how to do it in game if you would like, I can even teach you how to do it. This is not a trick this has been around since 3rd job came out. Also if it is bannable I would like to be set off with a warning because I thought I did nothing wrong of the sort; if it is bannable you should make a announcement about it because I know plenty of people who did it in mardia and scania. Last but not least I am hoping to get unbanned because I would hate to see all the time and effort I put into to this character gone like that, money included. I am very sorry for doing this I guess I won't be webbing himes again.
Sincerely,
J******

Summary:
Well If you did read this, I was banned for shadow webbing himes and killing black crow I would guess.
Questions:
What are your thoughts about this? Also have you ever been banned from doing this like I was? Or have you ever done this before?

reminds me of the gunslingers who got banned for jumping on top of that "hacker shack"

The Auto Ban system is incompetent, and so is Nexon for using it. GL getting unbanned.

This reminds me of the time when people would get banned trying to sneak towards righty fishy from the far left end of the map. Apparently what that was suppose to do was let you watch the attacker(s) kill the fish without actually participating in the fight, and not get hurt. You couldn't get close enough to actually attack the fish though. GMs apparently thought that was illegal, so they banned.

yea but if you get auto banned it is only for 1 month(I believe) only GM's can perma ban you.

There's gotta be something wrong with the way the autoban analyzes moves that affect monsters.

Bans for Rush, stunning (my friend, a Sader, got autobanned), now Shadow Web...

I bet since you used the word "ban" in your ticket, you get an automated or copy-n-paste response, but I wish you well. You didn't flame them or anything, so perhaps they'll even consider it.

Wait, now certain words are being filtered? Got any idea what other words you should avoid?

They've been filtering messages and replying with a bot for a very very long time now.

A guildie got his banning overturned after quite a few attempts. He was in a screenshot on a map with a hacker and a vacced mob. The GM banned him...

The filtered words are names, and obviously he filtered them himself to keep confidentiality. the letter in question is TO nexon, not a reply from nexon.

Well people are assuming that the these are scanned and denied automatically, but it may just be the result of overworked/incompetent GMs who are unwilling to consider the possibility that they or the autoban system could possibly make a mistake and ban a legit player.

GM scans down letter, notices 'bannable', 'hoping to get unbanned ' etc
hits button for automated reply 'request denied...have a nice day'
hits button to bring up next victim's letter

Just don't do stuff to piss them off, like opening multiple tickets for the same thing, sending insults, etc. I think you already know better than that. Smile

Also, I think I remember a thread on Nexon's forum (Technical Support maybe?) where people could request their bans be re-examined. If that still exists, it probably couldn't hurt to post about it on their official forum. The more people post or submit tickets about bad bans (whether automatic or by GMs), the higher the chance of Nexon doing something about it.

You just have to reword your letter when/if you get an automated reply. Rolleyes

A few pieces of advice for you; Don't include slang like "cause" or "perma" in a ticket, because it just gives Nexon 1 more reason to not do anything. Furthermore, don't make it sound like a conversation by saying things like "What is shadow webbing, you may ask" just say something like "I was using the skill Shadow Web to keep the Dreamy Ghosts (make sure you use the word Dreamy Ghost, not Himes, since that too, is a slang) away while I killed the boss Black Crow..." or something of that sort. It makes you seem that much more intelligent. Finally, again, it sounds kind of like you were trying to bribe them in the ending part, and you NEVER want to bribe someone who has dominance over you, and who you are trying to ask for help from.

It wasn't an auto ban for sure, you need GM intervention for it to be a real perma ban. I'm sure it was for something else, not Shadow Webbing.

All I can say is goodluck.

Ive had a ticket with nexon for over 18months now about an account related issue (change of email, due to provider going bankrupt). Stupid thing is its still open, its "escalated" and has been for 18months, and I cant send another for risk of both being closed... the system is completely retarded. Everything is automated and I think you have like a 1 in 1million chance of your actual ticket being read by an actual person.

Goodluck though.
