What's the best item we have gotten from any event so far?
I can only think of VIP weapons and the Time Traveler Medal. Do they plan on getting them back? I don't think so.
Every other item we got is just bunch of untradeable things that we can't transfer not even within the account.
Dragon Glasses? Elven Glasses? Dual Mask? Job-related hats?
And from hot times only a few empress weapons and such but those were minimal.
All the scrolls/above average weapons/recipes/accessories don't count right
How can we (non-nx users) compete?
Why you comparing yourself to people who devote more time/money into the game. That is like the "legits" complaining they can't compete with the dupers who provide their gear
The only good thing they have made so far (and I'm talking KMS) it's the crafting system. We can get up to unique items but most of the times with useless potentials so it's not that great.
The old crafting system was 100x better then the current one, your new is showing
People will just say:
Just buy some NX from another player. Yeah we can actually do that, but how can we get the initial profit? How can we invest? It's so hard for a new player to begin and even more harder to stay stable within the economy.
You say that, but have you ever started over in a new server? I have twice, and it is easy as pineapple to make a profit if you aren't stupid. There are more ways to make money then B>gfa@@@@ S>gfa for 1mil more@@@
The only way I can say we (non-nx players) can get a "decent"* damage is that we actually get GOOD rewards from quest inside the game.
There are many ways they can achieve this:
- Better equips as rewards from PQ. Epic pot on reveal for all of them? That would be nice and this would encourage people to actually PQ instead of just grinding 25/7 at LHC and SH.
- Better rewards from quest. Crafting materials? Recipes? Wouldn't taht be great? We could still be abide to the random pot system from this.
I can't think of more at this time.
There are many way they can enhace the game play FOR ANYONE not just a group of players.
So my answer would be No - But I think I might have different wants/needs from the average player.
99% of the events in MS are aimed towards the players who play for free
*By decent I mean getting a below average damage nowadays.
Which some people consider 50% stat + 150 Atk wep.

Not to mention Miracle Chaos, and all the event reward scrolls and potions that were made untradeable off the bat to avoid duping: clean slates, AEE, regular Chaos, even perfectly ordinary 60% Armor STR/DEX/LUK/INT... wtp?

Nexon cares about the players. However they only care about a specific type of player. The type of player who has disposible income and a hunger for power. It's obvious just by looking at the state of the cash shop. And even outside of the cash shop they satisfy the need for power by constantly adding new, powerful, classes that can become ridiculously powerful if money is used to boost them up.
You could say they care about those who care for the story line but...when was the last time they actually went out of their way to explain it in greater detail. The last time I can remember was when Edelstein had quests for Cygnus Knights which greater explained why they disagreed with one-another.

I think Nexon thinks they understand what Maple players want.
Whatever it is they think we want(and are giving us) it isnt really what I want or think is good for the game.

The day Nexon:
- Caps potential/nebulites to max +50% stat boost total of all equips, including +boss% damage, excluding +boss% damage SKILLS
- Nerfs enhancement to max 10 enhancements
- Resets -all- in-game weapons that are potentialled/enhanced to these max stats
- Makes normal bosses without 999.999.999.999 HP again
- Makes normal bosses that don't do 50.000 damage in 1 hit again
- Makes it possible for players to actually gain mesos without buying NX again
That day... Nexon truely understands their players...
That day... Will never come...

Is the difference between 12 enhancements and 10 enhancements so great? That's literally 10 attack, which is the same difference as having a Time Traveler or not having one. I don't think too many people enhance past ten not only because of cost, but aesthetics as well.

yo72; The old crafting system sucked compared to the current one the moment potential came out. Remember there where no p cubes back then so when you DID pass a adv/normal pot scroll on a +5 main and secondary stat item and it came out 2 lines it was ruined. Now we can easily get 4+% main stat equips through the current system.

Nexon America just uses way too many gimmicks for quick cash which only further disconnects the players from the game. You never want to make your players feel pressured to buy something because that only makes them uncomfortable, or even frustrated, over time. This isn't good practice for long-term success.
They say they give us enough events to have access to some ''premium'' items, yet usually when we do get these events they have a large number of restrictions that follow. If your premium content wasn't as game breaking as it is you wouldn't feel the need to implement so many restrictions for the non-paying player in the first place. And what is this premium content but just another version of gachapon? Most of these items don't even guarantee the player anything even remotely valuable these days; heck, whether they got it for free or not. And like others have pointed out; they keep making all of your ''rewards'' untradeable, making it harder to even make use of the damn things. When you give a player something timed, or untradeable, etc, then you pretty much guarantee that the player feels totally unrewarded in the end. They jumped through your hoops just to be given some chicken feed.
I honestly believe that if they didn't show us how desperate they are for money that they would actually make more money. The way they manage Maple right now just puts people off if anything because we're constantly bombarded with, ''Hey, buy this!'', ''Please buy this!'', ''If you buy this you get this item of lesser value for free!'', ''Hey, you know these are still available for purchase, right? But who knows for how long~ So please buy them...!?''. They seem to be more interested in what ways they can make a quick buck than legitimate content for us, and further proving this with our exclusive Jett class, which has the worst link skill in the game because of their greedy influence. Not only are the stats random, but they allow you to use cash shop items to attempt at bettering them, and keep them for longer (Though of course they run out so they're hoping you'll go ahead and repeat the process).
I feel like they're hoping they can win people over with their attacks against hackers (Which took years to start), and that the players will ignore their terrible business practices because of it. gMS was known for hacking, but Nexon America has always been known as a crooked company. I would appreciate them working on the business practices more than the hackers to be honest, as those are the real issues.
There's this thick air of cynicism toward anything Nexon America does because they've showed us for years how terrible they are. Nexon America is like an abusive boyfriend: Sure, he may tell you he loves you right now, but that doesn't take away the fact that he's been whooping your ass all week.
Nexon America can't know what we as players want when they don't even know what they want themselves, or what they need, rather. I think what we as players need by now is a hell of a good therapist though.

Because I'm a devoted player who decided not waste money in a broken game, why shouldn't I compare to everyone else in the game? I like to take it as auto-constructive criticism. The big difference is that those "lolegits" can buy the duped gear with cash. So big difference.

I tried, even with some friends. I know it's not impossible but for someone who's not that devoted to the game it's pretty hard, 90% of my friends quit in other servers because they couldn't sustain themselves so I came back with them to our server. Who buy gfas these days?
Quote:99% of the events in MS are aimed towards the players who play for free
I would say 60%, Marvel Machine, Red Leaf High, every single box-related event (Hero's Box, Renegades Gem, etc etc), super items in Gachapon, the last Big Wig (not this one), and pretty much every useful event requires some cash.
Yes there are ways to at least attempt to compete for a decent range but those ways requires you to play 16 hours per day and 80% of the times you'll end up failing. Does this count for viable ways to compete? Judging by MS community I would say no, but that's just me.

All of them got duped to hell, were the tradeable protections scrolls even meant to be put in the game? I'd have to agree with the epic potential scrolls there was no need for that. Lucky day scrolls duped to hell as well

Right now Nexon's design model for their game isn't "what is most fun for players, even if they don't spend any money on the game" but is instead "what will get people to spend the most money." They don't seem to understand the concept that if people enjoy their game, then they will spend money on it. But instead, they constantly make potential better, add more impossible to get equipment unless you've already spend hundreds on your current equipment, and make new classes that are stronger than what you're playing right now, because that encourages buying and potentialling new equipment to use on a new class (even though usually some equipment can transfer over).
What would I like? Well, a lot of stuff, but it's just easier to play a different game.

I do believe that Nexon is trying to give the players what they want; however, I do not believe they understand what it is we, as players, wish for. That response to the question about the Cash Shop giving an unfair advantage to players who pay for their equipment just about says it all for me.

Guys guys, remember back when they said Items in the Cash Shop will not enhance gameplay or give a player an advantage over another? Oh those good old days when having a Zak Helm was the best outfit ever.
I'm also loving this trend of legit players who bought duped gear but still consider themselves legit. My legitimacy ended in 2011 when I returned to maplestory after a 2.5 year hiatus. That's because the game itself became illegitimate.

Oops, crap, thought this was a different poll. Then scrolled up and read the thread title...

Anyway, yeah, I have to concur that it's not so much a matter of understanding as one of caring.

Eos, I'm declaring war on your protip.
Eos Wrote:Do you feel that Nexon actually understands what you want as a player? Largely, yes. It's not that hard to view things from the player's perspective. It would take something like two days as a remotely intelligent sounding unknown character to start talking to cogent players in the game. From there they'd hear all the obvious and some of the not so obvious concerns and with the slightest bit of know how, how to address them. This mostly hasn't happened. Why?
Eos Wrote:ProTip: If you think they know, but don't think they care, that's still effectively not knowing because you have no confidence in them ever fulfilling it. By that logic, Nexon accidentally fixing the problems without knowing we hate them is "effectively knowing." Intentions matter. A company that's simply incompetent is deserving of some pity - or the false hope they could learn someday. A company that willfully tramples the needs and priorities of its customers is not. I think they know most of what we say should be done. I think that a combination of corporate design, average employee incompetence, and "differing" corporate priorities almost always relegate legitimate player concerns to "do it later/never." Understanding what those roadblocks are would be at least slightly more helpful to us than brushing off this distinction as "effectively not knowing."

Quote:Q: When the Cash Shop was implemented in October 2005, a promise was made to the community that users who chose to purchase NX Cash would never be given an unfair advantage over those who did not, a promise that many maplers feel has been broken. Knowing this, would Nexon consider leveling the playing field by re-evaluating Cash Shop items like miracle cubes and the unfair advantages many other cash items give players as well as other features like the potential item system? KhainiWest of Khaini and MrChefBandit of Bera
Quote:A: The development team works hard to create a balanced and fun environment in MapleStory for our players to enjoy. Although there are items that can only be purchased, we also provide opportunities for players to obtain items and benefits through various events and in-game promotions. Moving forward, well turn our ears to our players even more and do our best to implement more of their suggestions.
Basically everything that 案山子 said. I resonate so strongly with the idea that NX has ruined game balance and gives players unfair advantages over players, moreso than someone working harder than someone else to get better equipment. It's expected that someone who puts more time into their game will get more out of it; it shouldn't be expected that someone who shoves money into a random upgrade process gets more out of it than the person who invested time instead. A free-to-play game should not have pay-to-win elements.
