TERA Online General : Now Free to Play
Ooh i see. I think she said she sees them on sale for 1.2k gold or something like that?

In the event that I do take a break for later and let my time expire... how long will my characters last before they delete or purge them? Sorry for the nooby question, first time ever trying a P2P.

Nevermind, finally found the answer!

Yeah, they never expire; also, each server has its own name pool.

Flonne Wrote:If you avoid pub instancing it will be fine. Dragonfall has the second worst pub instancers in the game, just behind Celestial Hills, the RP server. I usually just ditch the party if anyone from either server joins unless they have a ridiculously high gearlevel or I know them to be decent at the game.

My Slayer is 53 now, should be 60 by tomorrow night; Slayer is really fun. Grab reset CD glyph on Overhand and Heart Thrust, and suddenly you are spamming skills like a madman. Then I got enough for the 15% aspd buff on normal attack glyph and it's even faster. My Zerker still feels stronger though, even before the revamp it did...but Slayer has very constant DPS whereas Zerker is burst melee, which can have issues with interrupts or enemy guarding/dodging if you don't know the tells. Still, god damn it is satisfying to see 1M crits while everyone else is doing less than half that. Big Grin

Oh, and buy 1 month; if you grind to 60 in that month, you will have enough raw gold just from quests to freeride yourself another 3-5 months depending on your server scroll prices.

I'm from Dragonfall. Not all of us are horrible, but I have run into a bunch of bad healers this past week. My guildies were pugging FoK with a Mystic who didn't know how to do the pillars. The lancer had to solo the boss which took over 20 minutes. The mystic left after dying twice.

I guess it comes from just attracting the most people, newbies see high numbers and think 'oh i pick this one' Whereas more experienced players may prefer other servers for various reasons resulting in a skew towards general experiences.

I'll know for sure tuesday... just waiting for it to come in shipment from amazon... i chose 2 day because 3 dollar difference ain't much.

Yeah, pretty much. I originally started in Serpentis Isle. That server was really friendly, but not nearly as active as Dragonfall.

I let my subscription run out, but only because my books are killing me. I'll probably join back up in January for sure.

Sadly, the PvE servers are all on a MUCH lower level than the PvP servers are. VoT and Jagged Coast have a ton of extremely good instancers. Even Frost Reach only has a few records in the top players stuff, and most of those are in the 58 instance HMs. Meanwhile, I've still never cleared a single 60 HM because nobody else is skilled enough around here, while some people have cleared Kelsiak HM over 50 times on the PvP servers. For those, you have to be in the right group, they don't pub run at all, they just static invite only on same server.

I'm prolly gonna have a bad endgame time then, Since i plan to limit myself to 3 hours max a day. The better groups on the server probably expect more activity than that.
Reply
eh, you can do some of the easier 60 stuff at least. I'm just bored of doing that hundreds of times, lol.
Reply
There are 3-4 groups on Dragonfall that run Kelsaik HM 1-2 times a day. They all have their Zebra mounts and masks now. Most people will probably never get theirs.

Wouldn't surprise me; every server has a static group or two at least.

Woo okay its here, currently installing. Thinking Elin Archer...

I like plate armor but i strongly dislike the weapons of the two classes that use plate. :c Polearms and Lances, blah.

Elin Lancers are #1.

Elin archer is probably the worst Elin choice. Castanic archer is about the only way to go; in endgame instances Elin archer has like...TERRIBLE attack speed on certain skills (multishot and final salvo). Like, 30-40% slower than they should be. Elin lancer or zerker are alright if you know how to sidetank (because their front hitbox is so small sometimes attacks go around your block and hit you from the "side" if you front tank). If you wanna be Elin and are new to the battle system, go with one of the healers, slayer, sorc, or warrior. Of course, all of my characters are Elin regardless of handicap.

Never would have thought that Elin Lancers, dainty as they look were actually good tanks... and the opposite is the case for archers. I was considering Warrior if it didn't work out anyways.

Level 10 now~ and holy cow, now that is what a call a opening. I'm very glad I got this PC, max settings makes me happy. <3

Island of Dawn is pretty, but terrible gameplay-wise, honestly. Just don't expect BAMs to be like Karascha, is all I can say. The first -real- taste of BAM fighting is at 35, against Fangspawn. Everything before that, you can solo with a bit of skill. My least favorite are still hermit crabs and 55+ arachnen with the secondary moveset.

Zones that will look AMAZING on a good PC are Seeliewood (level 58, fae forest), Westonia (~43, snowy mountains), Bastion (60, jungle area), Blessed Basin (~42, forest), and Timeless Woods (~41, deep forest).

By the way, how good is "good"; if you have a VERY high end PC, you should be externally forcing FXAA. The ingame "max settings" are terrible compared to how the game can really look. On the injected max settings, TERA is the most graphically stunning game ever made, something like Crysis doesn't even come close to how good FXAA4 TERA looks. If my PC could handle it I would definitely be using it, but I barely run at 20-30 fps on mid settings.

Well, I actually come from a bargain bin Gateway to end up calling what i have now 'good'

Intel core i7 processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX, 560m 2GB. I'm gonna try applying overrides to see what happens now.

I actually rode a pegasus for the first time ingame today and i went CRAZY with them. That atmosphere <3 Beats the heck out of a simple map switch. The ride itself made me think of the roller coasters i went on at 6 flags.

Gonna pick out my favorites~ and well, the resolution isn't beastly cause... I forgot to mention it's a laptop...

I know it will all become just another ride eventually but... still great stuff. I might roll a warrior. Getting used to the aiming is a chore as an archer, specially on the tiny mobs. Zooming in helps, but of course I then lose sight of my backside.

You should explore a bit in Velika Outskirts, you can climb on top of some of those mountains and stuff. Also, press ctrl+z twice to disable UI and go into first person.

Oh right, and for some of the stuff to work, you need to turn off the in game AA. I think you can do that by setting "lighting effects" to 1 instead of 2 in the video options. It will look a lot better; the in game AA is basically just a liberal dosage of blur.
