Sorry, but half of the stuff they have in the extreme section is not extremist at all from a gaming standpoint. Personally once it get's past Outstanding, That whole section should be labeled "Gaming". I'm getting ready to drop between 2.5 to 3k on a system and that's not even Enthusiast level. From an "average computer user" standpoint, I can see why they would label it like that.
sufian Wrote:What is your current budget?:
Maximum budget about 1000 GBP, but would like to not spend it all. looking to spend 600-700 comfortably
(bout $1500 USD, max. comfortable amount 950-1100)
What part are you looking for? Why do you need it?:
Whole new Laptop. The laptop I have now is kinda old, been thru some wear and tear and starting to give me problems.
Also if it's not too much trouble, I'd prefer (not compulsory) a laptop with the Delete, Home, Pg Up, Pg Down and End keys down the right hand side
Like this:
What parts are in your current computer? Be as specific as possible. Links to Newegg/Tigerdirect are best. If you have a pre-built, include the make and model.
Intel 4 series Express Chipset Family display driver
Vista home premium
Not sure what else to mention here.
How do you intend to use this new part or new computer? What's the heaviest load it's likely to encounter?
Want to be able to play games on it. Hopefully gonna be buying a buncha games from the Steam Summer Sale, also want to be able to run Maple, WoW and Diablo 3 without any hiccups (not necessarily simultaneously)
Want to be able to browse the web at the same time as playing too, play music in the background
If you live anywhere other than the United States, please indicate your country.
I live in London, UK.
I would grab this one.

I've owned several different Asus ROG laptops and I was happy with them. It has a GTX 660M which should be more than enough to handle everything you want to play at enjoyable settings if not more.

I need a new laptop. I need it for college, also Guild Wars 2

I need a new laptop, prefer windows 7 and Intel I cores.
Here is a list of minimum requirement for guild wars 2
Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or better
Intel® Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, Core i3 OR AMD Athlon 64 X2, or better
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA® GeForce® 7800, ATI X1800, Intel HD 3000, or better (256 MB of video RAM and shader model 3.0 or better)
25 GB available HDD space
Broadband Internet connection
Keyboard and mouse
How do you intend to use this new part or new computer? What's the heaviest load it's likely to encounter?
I would like to use this computer to do some college work and play guild wars 2. The heaviest load it's likely to encounter will probably be guild wars 2 since I am not planning to play anything else.

I live in U.S.
Thanks for the help everyone At that budget range, it is going to be very difficult to play an MMO of that popularity from this generation with decent settings. Chances are you'll get very choppy framerates (Unless you don't care. I know I do). You gotta pay to play, my friend.
Try this: http://www.xoticpc.com/force-pbl21-compa...figure=yes
I bought my Sager from them. So far no complaints.

Hey guys, looking to buy a monitor. I game a lot, and I was wondering if this would be good. I would be connecting via HDMI from my laptop and the desktop. I don't care if it has 2 ports though, I could deal with taking the five seconds to change the cable. What monitors do you guys use and what would you think about this one? I hate ghosting (which occurs a crapton on my laptop monitor) and I like vibrant colors, but I hate when monitors overdo it and make everything over-colorful and screw my life up.
Click me!
Just realized that they don't have HDMI on that monitor. Fail.
So anyways guys what should I be looking out for? I notice some monitors have 50k:1 contrast ratios and some have 8,000,000+:1 Contrast ratios. What exactly does this mean and what will the difference be?
Budget is 155 ish dollars. Preferably less, my dad is a cholo when it comes to lending money.
And I see a monitor that is 21.5 inches, yet 1980 x 1080 res. Will that look right...? I thought that resolution was supposed to be for like... 24+ inch monitors...

Anyway, I am wondering about monitors as well. I am looking to buy a 2560x1440 display...but hopefully in an alright pricerange. 150-200 would be ideal, but I doubt I can find something with those dimensions and have it not be..17in or something.
Suggestions?

Alright so I got a monitor. It's a Samsung SyncMaster B2430HD. I got it used from some people down the road, and they rarely used it. (according to them) but right now the contrast and everything is just SCREWED UP. My screen goes over the edges. I have it set to 16:9 aspect ratio 1920 x 1080 @ 60 hz, and for some reason the screen goes over the edges. I'm really at a loss if someone could help me out, please Skype me, add me on Steam, AIM, etc. just I need some help xD anyone who knows about samsung monitors :3

Try looking for a reset option in the menu.
Also after you reset, try using the "auto" button (there should be one)

I think you're looking at at least 700+ to like 2-3k...lol...at which case, I would just recommend a Apple Thunderbolt Display for 1k.

So after a misplaced thread I got directed here. I'm heading to college and getting a laptop from my parents. Budget is around 1000 euro's (roughly 1250 dollars) and I'm using it for average gaming and college coursework. I don't care much about graphics as long as it runs smoothly. Some games that I'd like to play on it are League of Legends or Tiberium Wars. Basically pretty recent titles on average settings. I'm really clueless as it comes to these things so after a bit of browsing of my own I came to this preassembled laptop. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...A50-173203 My question is if I can find it somewhere cheaper or I should look at something differnt. I kind of just looked at the site, because it was referenced here, checked out gaming laptops and this had a lot of positive reviews in my budget range, but when I look at the specifics in detail, most of it doesn't mean anything to me. Finally how should I convince my mom that ordering online is safe and we won't get scammed out of all our money....
EDIT: So shipping costs are a bit expensive from tigerdirect. Does anyone know any good europian equivalent of such a site?

Tiger Direct and New Egg are very respected companies with both having Department stores here in the US. Chance of being scammed is 0.

What is your current budget?:
$800
What part are you looking for? Why do you need it?:
A brand new laptop, my current computers are all desktops with crappy specs too, since my friend recommended me to LoL my crappy desktops can't even play it at all.
What parts are in your current computer? Be as specific as possible.
I have 2 computers, they both use intel pentium 4, so I'm seriously just upgrading to a good laptop at the same time
How do you intend to use this new part or new computer? What's the heaviest load it's likely to encounter?
playing LoL/ms/hw(doesn't need any high specs), my main computers are all desktops and they very outdated, since they can't even run 64bit. So I just want a decent laptop with good specs towards gaming I guess since my homework is basically like nothing in the first place.

Why do you want something with a resolution that high, aside from Pro post-production or Enthusiast level gaming? $150-200? Yamakasi Catleap Q270 the cheapest I can find at $289 on ebay. Most 1440P monitors are pretty expensive and are usually in the 20''- 30'' range. Usually expect to pay out the ass for those kinds of monitors. Hope this helps.

Both of those things would be nice.
Yeah, Catleap were the cheapest ones that I have seen. I've asked some people that own them, they say the monitors work just fine etc etc.
Thanks for the help!

No Problem. Personally I'd just stick with a 1080P monitor. A lot cheaper. 1440p seems better for a really big screen 40''+. Plus the performance need to game at 1440P vs 1080 is pretty big, unless you're "rolling in dough".

Wowie. That is a nice monitor. Pretty pricy though.
As for performance, I think I can handle it. I can play everything on max at 1080p currently, and nothing of mine is OC'd yet.

*I changed my comment, lol*
But yeah, I want a 120hz monitor since they are way smoother. I can't decide on a Mobo for my system yet. I was thinking an Asus P8Z77-V PRO since it has a 16+4 Power phases which will help a lot with OC'ing.

Current budget - under $500.
I already have a nice computer (ASUS) for gaming/processing and the more difficult computing stuff. I plan to keep this one in my dorm.
I am looking to buy a netbook of some kind for college. I would like something to take notes on/use the internet that is portable (carry between classes/library) and has a long battery life (8+ hours).
I was looking at the Asus eee pc series, but honestly I don't know what I should be looking for. Anything but an Apple product.
Sorry for no links - I'm on my phone and won't be home until late tonight.

A little too big for what I want.
I was looking at something like the Eee PC 1025CE or the HP Pavilion dm1z-4200.
I don't plan to game on it - this will be strictly for notes/school work.
Talked to my parents, price range is now up to $750.
