Weapon swapping/skills are blocked/unblocked to, you know, give real level 80s an advantage over a level 1. To set up traits just open your character and click the trait tab. Not that hard to find O_o.

That's kinda disappointing that they changed it. Good thing my char names are pretty unlikely to be used.

If you have character names from Guild Wars 1 you get I believe two weeks to take them for yourself. Unless they changed that. I remember it being mentioned back when the GW2 site first opened up.

I don't know the exact details, but it should be whenever you make the character. Apparently, it was working in BWE3, too.

Edit - finally figured out how to set the level 80 traits and skills when you pvp and I'm having A BLAST! Got top player 3 games in a row . Been playing as a dagger/shortbow thief. The daggers are where it's at. The shortbow I don't use for damage, but that #3 skill is stupidly OP. It makes you jump backwards and shoots a crippling poison on your target. The backwards jump you're invincible just like a roll dodge. If your initiative is full, you're pretty much invincible for at least 6-7 seconds while you just spam it and get away super fast and slowing them. In the thief video you can see the dude using it to get away from just about any situation.

The skill build I used was buffing condition damage and poisons as far as I could to get as much passive damage as I can. It seemed pretty powerful. I was going to go for a tanky build but that shortbow skill makes it so I don't really have to.

The most OP as fk class as far as I could tell though is mesmer. Super super ridiculous... Some warrior dropped me from 100-0 in a knockdown too with their whirlwind attack. I was getting crit nonstop for like 3-4ks every hit and died in like 3 seconds.

I seriously want to know if she's like that just naturally...or a really good actress in that she can be all quirky and silly whenever she's on camera.

I'm honestly impressed at the size of the figurine. Really happy I pre-purchased the CE now.

Sounds like you didn't buy sigils/runes/whatever.

The PvP gear they give you already comes with sigils and runes i think. When you go to that heart of the mist place, you're auto equipped with full lvl 80 pvp gear.

I could've sworn you could buy specialized runes/sigils/whatever for whatever build you wanted to.

You can. The armorsmith/weaponsmith guy sells them, it's just they're in a different tab. You can also get different amulets and some other thing. I think it's a jewel for the amulet?

When you do the 5v5 battlegrounds, when the game is over, it puts everyone who was in that game, into another game, but just switches up the teams. The dude's name was Illusion Clone, or something like that, so I couldn't tell who was the guy and who was the illusion. So, since I kept doing these 5v5s, I kept having to fight him.

and yea, I'm going to play engi over thief even though thief was really fun. Pistol engi is just awesome. You should see the supply crate drop ultimate ability. It was pretty sweet. Just use it and it drops all the turrets and some healing packs on the ground.

Because I'm totally not maining an Engie. (・∀・

Supply drop is the only decent ulti for Engie. Elixir X isn't bad, but it's too random. Mortar is awkward in spvp, but it might do better in pve/wvw especially since its range got buffed.

I like how he's explaining everything. There's so many different builds for each class that's it's going to be very very difficult to become great in pvp in this game. It's going to take me a really long time to learn the animations and the builds. Not to mention each class has like 4 different weapons to choose from... ugggg it's making my head hurt just thinking about it.

better start practicing

now that I know how to set up a lvl 80, I can try out the other classes. My plan is to get some ranger and mesmer in as well as playing with some engineer builds.

Really good Engineer build. I could 2v1 sometimes and got top kills 4 games in a row. It basically is centered purely around elixirs. I'm using all elixir skills, buffing their duration by 20%, reducing cooldown by 20%, and drinking/using elixirs removes conditions from yourself and allies. I'm using dual pistols and I got the increased range skill. Because the elixir tree also increases health, I have a crapload of health =P.

Something that can be done differently is replacing Elixir U or S with the Elixir Gun instead. I didn't try it out myself, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Similar to this guy's build, although you take away conditions/dps for more tankiness. I just hear condition Engineers are annoying to deal with.
