Question about graduate school
#1
I'm applying to 10 graduate programs, 7 PhD and 3 masters for backup. From my time researching, I have noticed that few of the PhD programs have had a stated way to enter PhD candidacy after completing a master's degree somewhere else. Is it still possible to get into a PhD program by first completing a Master's degree?

If you attain a Masters Degree, it does not exclude you the opportunity to go back to school and get a PhD.

Whether the two-three years of schooling spend on obtaining the Masters will carry over into the PhD program is up to the school.

I know for most graduate schools in Canada, and specifically for at least physics or math, it's rare to go directly to a PhD program,
most schools will want a masters first, or bundle the two together
