The equips give a lot of secondary stat bonuses, just find a way to get enough stats to equip a single item and then you can enjoy the bonus stats to wear the rest. :o

STEP 2: WHICH EQUIPS HAVE THE HIGHEST REQUIREMENT?
you NEED to know which equips have the highest requirement of the ones you plan to equip, if you plan to equip the whole set, the highest requirement ones would be the helm, polearm and overall, if you plan to equip only glove, cape and shoe, then the ones with the highest requirement are the gloves and shoe. we'll assume i'm aiming to equip the whole set
STEP 3: OUT OF STEP 2, WHICH GIVES THE MOST SECONDARY STAT?
so we're equipping the whole set, in step 2 we determined that the hat, polearm and overall are the ones with the highest requirement out of what we plan to equip (req 160 dex) which of these equips gives the largest dex? it would have to be the helmet, it gives +18 dex.
STEP 4: ADD THE DEX OF THE STEP 3 EQUIP, TO THE REQUIREMENT TO EQUIP IT
so we require 160 dex, the helmet gives 18, so we add these two together, and we get 178, this number is the actual number you need to reach so that all the equips stay equipped together
STEP 5: SUBSTRACT EVERYTHING THAT APPLIES FROM THE NEW REQUIREMENT.
you grab the new requirement of 178, and substract from it the secondary stat of all the pieces that apply (and set bonuses), so:
178
-18 from helm
-04 from PA
-14 from overall
-09 from glove
-10 from 4 set bonus
-09 from shoe
-03 from cape
-15 from 6 set bonus.
so to equip the whole set in this scenario and have it stay on, you'd need to have 96 dex or above, without any cape, glove, shoe, helmet, top, bottom, overall or weapon.
this way you can determine how much secondary stat you're lacking so that the whole set, or just parts of it stay on, here's an example with three empress equips:
20 dex gloves
20 dex shoes
21 dex overall
no set bonus, all require 170 dex to equip
so 170 +21 from the overall, which matches step 2 and 3
191 dex requirement
new requirement, - all the dex:
191-21-20-20=130
you require at least 130 dex without any gloves, shoes, top, bottom or overall for the equips to stay on after equipping

Wow, can you really do that now? Shouldnt the equip turn red if you are lacking stats to use it? For example: you want to wear a hat that is 150 dex req (not empress) and you got 130 base dex, then you equip the an overall that gives 20 dex and you obtain enough to wear the hat. The hat itself gives 20 dex, at this point could you take the overall off and still wear the hat. Does this work for any equip or only empress?

That's not how it works.
In your situation, if you used a dex non empress overall to glitch the empress hat along with shoes on, and then took off the overall, the shoes will support the hat and vice versa, so neither will get unequipped.

So this would only work if I had more than 1 empress equip, thats still awesome.

yes, the dex given by all the other dex-requiring equipment must be enough to meet the requirement of each equip. so for an empress hat, the sum of all your other equips must be 170
if at any point the dex given by the other equips is not enough to support the hat, it will unequip itself.
