Hi, I don't know what it's like in your server, but I/Ls and F/Ps are pretty much shunned from all boss runs save Papulatus here in Broa.

As for the topic at hand, I think that the staffs/wands should have the intended -25% on Holy.
You Bishops have a skill that does just about as much damage for half the cost, us, an offensive class, wanting to do more damage to keep up with you is not the end of the world.

Now bishops get something that was intended for mages. As bishops recieve more mesos from HT (AMs going to HT? Not a chance), they can acquire elemental staves/wands faster than AMs. There's obviously something wrong here when I can't find a single Elemental wand/staff 1,2,5, or 6 in the Fm because of greedy bishops/priests. Not to mention bishops experience more of the end-game than AMs do (HT, Zak, Pink Been, etc). Now bishops are pushing down AMs even more. Just look at that KismetKing guy on Sleepywood. He believes AMs shouldn't exist at all, and he has SIX elemental wands. Greedy bishops for you.

Bosses aren't the only way to make money. Considering how cheap ZHelmets are and the number of people eligible for splits in HT, it's not uncommon to get a very low amount of split - if any. In Scania, it'd probably take me around 100-175 HT Runs to afford an Element Wand worth 1.5bil mesos due to Nexon making HT Skills available by other means and therefore greatly reducing their prices. Most godly people in the game spend their time in the FM to make mesos. I doubt people with Element Wands rely solely on Bosses for mesos and they most likely had to work hard for the Mesos as Boss splits contribute very little.

Most Bishops are in the same position as Arch Mages when it comes to being accepted to HT Squad. There are simply too many Bishops these days and it will prove to be as difficult to be accepted into HT Squads as most squads have Bishops that regularly come. The only way for most Bishops and Arch Mages to be accepted is to have good connections. If you don't have these connections, then too bad. Go merchanting.

You think Element Weapons should give a reduction to Holy? Okay, that's your opinion and you are entitled to that.

Bishops do more damage than Arch Mages ONLY at Skelegons. With Element Wands, Arch Mages match our damage at Skelegons. Plus, Arch Mages can Perfect 1hit Jr. Newties at 15X, whereas a Bishop with an Element Wand couldn't achieve that until 19X.

Yes, we are a support class. Wizet has given us an attacking skill, it's not the end of the world. Sure Genesis is strong on Skelegons, but think about this... Blizzard 30 can freeze monsters, and the skill book is nowhere as expensive as Genesis 30; probably 1/10 the price. Meteor 30 is worthless... in Scania, with the mesos needed to buy Genesis 30, you could probably buy 200 Meteor 30.

This is Global MapleStory, not any other version. Don't assume that these Element Weapons are supposed to be the same as those in the other version. These wands are not meant for Arch Mages only. If you can find a notice on the main site, forum, or a GM saying these weapons were intended for Arch Mages only, then I will agree with you.

As for KismetKing owning 6 Element Wands, he only has that many because he worked hard to gain the mesos. Maybe the Arch Mages should follow his example, instead of wasting time that could be spent in the Free Market making mesos and complaining about how they're too lazy to Merchant.

As I said before, most Bishops can't experience HT. A Zakum squad is easy for any Bishop / Arch Mage to join, but I believe that Bishops and Arch Mages have almost the same difficulty joining HT.

-------------------

In my opinion, just be thankful you have an Ultimate. Think of the non Magician classes that don't have these skills. They have pretty much accepted the fact that they'll never train as fast as Arch Mages. Arch Mages pretty much train as fast as a Bishop without an Element Wand so stop complaining.

Someone please close this thread. Pointless arguments being spewed out. Nexon will do what they want with the elemental weapons.

[COLOR="Teal"]My problem with there not being a 25% reduction to holy damage is just the fact that bishops are hogging ALL the wands instead of taking the cheaper secondary ones since they would all be the same to a bishop, therefore keeping the prices high. There are currently 1 or 2 lvl 130 Ice wands in Bello I believe, and I know a bishop has one. Seriously, why would a bishop need an ice or fire wand? What difference does it make if it was ice/fire or poison/lit for you? It's not like you're using it to it's true potential. The difference in money for those two is a lot so I'm not sure why you'd chose to waste money on a different colored wand that was probably more than twice as expensive as another differently colored one with the same stats, while we can actually use them to train faster. So the only good area for you is skeles. I think that wins over newties since I'm pretty sure you can 2 hit those pretty early on, at least earlier than we can 2 hit newties, and even worse if we do not have an ele weapon. You're complaining skeles is the only map you're good at? That's probably the best map for training in the higher levels.

You think it's so easy making money by merching and bossing. Merching is how I make a living, but I still can't get to nearly enough for an ele wand. I've seen windia's fms. They span like 2 channels or something. Ours doesn't even fill 1 channel lol. I don't even think half the rooms are full lol. Recently, I've seen the lightning one sell for 600-ish. With the lvl 130 ice or fire ones, I doubt it will be that low. Thank god for apq, which gives (if you're lucky) 1 apple per apq. We only need like 200-300 of those for a wand. With 3 apqs a day, we could do it in about 88-100 days, IF we got an average of an apple per apq. As for bossing, we can hardly boss. Zak runs do not give that much in splits, ht is not possible for a under lvl 150 AM to get into, and we have to go like 16 times til we get splits or so. Pap may be good, but there's no way to solo pap without either being high lvl/lukless/ele wand/staff cause it would take up so much time and pots it won't be worth it unless something dropped, I have not tried pianus yet, but I hear AM have a hard time with it, and I'm pretty sure we can't survive a crow hit til like 130+ (I have 1.7XX K hp, and crow does 8.6XX K, which equals a 1.7XX damage on us. If we survive, we won't have much to survive with), I don't think there is a need to comment on anego. We're not given a lot of options here. if you're thinking of tagging on for a boss run, bishops are still prefered over AMs. Bishops can heal, bless, holy symbol, dispel, res. What can we do? Give everyone a whooping +20 matk. Plus I doubt any nl/4th job warrior/bm/shad even need anyone else to help them if they plan to solo pap, and even if they did, we would not be top priority.

Soooo pessimistic sir! If bishops have the money to buy the ele wands, why not? It's their money. Let them waste it. That is beside the fact that you do not have any where near the meso required to buy these wands. I am an i/l arch mage. I was one of the first in mardia to get an ice elemental wand in mardia. I paid 1.2billion mesos for mine. I had been saving up since i heard about these wands. I don't see the issue with them not nerfing the wand for bishops as long as I still get my boost. Like I said, if a bishop wants to waste 1bil+ on a wand that could some time in the future reduce their damage by 25%, then more power to them. Excellent

p.s. what do all those bosses have to do with this conversation? :f6:

Have you ever considered that not everybody prices items the same way? Maybe some of us got lucky and found Wands that were cheap? Not to mention that since they're kind of rare, Bishops will buy whatever Element Wand they can get their hands on.

In Scania for example, I bought a clean Fire Wand 148/3 for 700mil. Currently, there is a 149/3 Fire Wand for sale with a current offer of 2bil. Seems like a nice deal? Plus, you don't really get much cheaper than 700mil for any Element Wand 5-8 so why not buy it?

For more examples, check this out.

Arch Mages can 2hit Skelegons almost as soon as Bishops. And Arch Mages aren't exactly hard to train at lower levels. And Skelegons isn't always the best place to train. Soloing Jr. Newties is faster than soloing Skelegons and we all know who perfect 1hits Jr. Newties 40 levels before Bishops. In the past, I have seen plenty of 19X Magicians train at Jr. Newties rather than at Skelegons. What I'm trying to say is that there are alternative training maps that favour Arch Mages. If an Arch Mage truly wanted to Skele with a Bishop, I imagine it would be an easy task as all servers are swarmed with Bishops. Plus, if an Arch Mage can't two hit a Skelegon, then there's probably a better place to train. Training doesn't revolve around Skelegons.

Well, that's your misfortune for choosing to play in a Server with an inactive Free Market. You could have probably figured that out when you joined that server (Bellocan I believe, or Windia?). Choosing a small populated server like Bellocan would clearly not have as large a market as a populated server such as Scania.

For APQ, just do more of them? It's not like one can acquire an Element Wand in just one day without Gachapon...

My Bishop soloed Clock Boss at the early 13X, and it took 40 minutes. Not bad, just be patient with yourself. Pianus is Fire Mage friendly I think. And as for surviving crow, go talk to some Night Lords and especially Archers who frequently fight Crow. I think Crow's damage is double their HP. At least you have a possibility to survive.

As for being wanted at Bosses, you have unfortunately chosen the wrong class for that. Even if Bishops couldn't use any of the Element Wands, your situation wouldn't change...

Bishops are needed as Support, so maybe we get the best of both worlds - Training and Support/Needed at Bosses. Arch Mages have faster training. If you care about Bossing so much, make a new character. Otherwise, if you really want an Element Wand, just go Merchanting.

-----------------

As SekushiKun says, let us Bishops waste our mesos on the things we want. It's kind of like buying a purse from a dollar store and a high quality, leather purse. Same function, but then aesthetics also are a factor. Why would people buy the expensive leather purse when they can just buy a cheap plastic one from the dollar store? They do serve the same purpose after all...

SekushiKun Wrote:I was one of the first in mardia to get an ice elemental wand in mardia. I paid 1.2billion mesos for mine. I had been saving up since i heard about these wands.

This is a wonderful statement. Arch Mages are, in fact, able to acquire Element Wands. Just takes a little hard work.

I think it would be safe to assume that any Arch Mage capable of affording an Elemental Wand, has one already despite how empty the Free Market is.

*Looks at Yellonde and Demethos Ranks only to see many players equipping an Element Weapon*

Who knows how many more Element Wands are being covered by Cash Shop weapons...

I think all in all, since Element Wands are indeed the End Game weapons for the Magicians, it would require hard work to acquire them although the difficulty may vary from server to server... Just plain Hard Work.

I'm sorry, but anyone who thinks that Bishops should be able to use elemental weapons without the reduction has no idea just how easy bishops have it. Archmages NEED those weapons to be even comparable to any other class, let alone bishops. Letting Bishops use these without penalty makes demand for them skyrocket, and prevents many Archmages from getting their hands on one.

So what if Archmages do more damage to Bishops? Mages did more damage than Priests, and you didn't see priests complaining. Oh wait... I forgot that with 4th job we're not a support class anymore... No, wait, WE STILL ARE..!!!

Without elemental weapons, Bishops have the fastest training speed in the game, a faster ultimate, and consume less MP than Archmages. Why the hell would ANYONE want to further increase their power with something as gamebreaking as a holy elemental weapon?

Give the Archmages their elemental weapons, after all, you don't see them healing and resurrecting people in boss runs, now do you? In fact, your rarely ever see them there at all, because they lack the offensive power of melee

He says it better than me. I don't see why bishops should be equal/stronger than archmages because bishops are a support class. I'm all for giving them a good attack so they aren't solely support but imo, archmages were made to be the "non-support" mage class meaning they should have the power to compensate the lack of support skills. If bishops are able to get this boost in attack power, then archmages should get new support skills that are actually helpful and not replaced.

We have to sell leech for much lower prices than bishops and get less exp. (Bishops sell leech for 10-11m/hour, Ams have to make do with 5-6m per hour while getting 30% less exp than the bishop)
Separate but not equal
Oh, and I have a fm mule active daily. Even if I merchant what deals I find browsing the FM, I still can't find a F/P wand/staff. You know why? Let me reiterate my point: Greedy, selfish bishops who just wish to push down mages some more, even though we are already very low on the totem pole of classes.

2x more MP at the Best Training Map in the game but kill as fast as the Bishops.... You also have the highest damage in ALL other maps. That reminds me, that you also have other skills you can use to train with.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXmBHP9exJI&fmt=18

Boy do I wish my Bishop had the capabilities like that... but I don't wish it enough to make an Arch Mage myself Rolleyes. Just look at that diversity!

-----------------

Be thankful you can even sell leech, I wonder how many Warriors, Thieves, and Bowmen wished they could sell leech for mesos.

-----------------

And, I think you're calling Bishops greedy because we want to be stronger? So if somebody is buying a godly equip for themselves to be stronger, it's considered greedy because he/she isn't letting others buy the item instead o-o? Sorry to tell you, but I think the majority of Maplers (not just the evil Bishops that work all day and night to fight against you) care for their own equips and power before your own. Plus, in your anger (?), you're saying we're purposely trying to make Arch Mages unable to have access to these weapons? Doubt it. I think that Bishops don't have such an unfair advantage that makes them gods of the Free Market over the Arch Mages. You're just unlucky to be unable to find a weapon for yourself.

You're so low on the totem pole of Classes? Give me a break. Arch Mages are one of the most common classes. Besides Bossing, Arch Mages are superior than most classes. Don't forget there are Paladins and Marksman (I think) that can't get into Boss fights easily. Don't forget pre-4th Job Mages were already being overshadowed by the Warrior and Thief classes. Now you have the power to KS them completely and gain a lot more experience per hour than they can.

-----------------

To summarize, the issues I see you have here is that you think Arch Mages are so low on this totem pole due to:

a) MP Cost of Skills
b) Can't train as fast as Bishops.
c) Can't Boss

First, you may pay high amounts of MP, but you also train so much faster than all non-Magicians. Second, not every class trains at an equal pace. So just one Class trains faster than you. You guys train faster than Heroes, Dark Knights, Paladins, Night Lords, Shadowers, Bowmasters, and Marksmen. Isn't that good enough? Finally, for Bossing, you win some you lose some ;]. Go have a chat with some Paladins, Shadowers, and non-HP Washed Bowmen. I don't think they complain as much the Arch Mages do to be honest.

If you think Arch Mages are so unfair, then too bad. Make a new character.

Yeah poor arch mages. Learn2Merchant. I'm in favor of not nerfing the wands for bishops. They deserve it as much as we do. Quite frankly, the poor people who peach about it don't deserve any elemental wand either. When is anything in the economy fair for the poor?

So arch mages have it worse than bishops. Like some stated, paladins are worse than many other classes. Do they complain?

Also rare gach weapons like these was never meant to be sold for your lowballing 300-500m. If you have one then you deserve it through hard work of merchanting or whatnot.

Don't have enough to buy an elemental wand 5-8 arch mages? Get a Elemental wand 1-4 for <125m. (or an equivilent level 103 version staff, luk mages)

Back on-topic:

No, I doubt very highly that they'll ever nerf the elemental weapons to penalize bishops. It was clear from the start that whoever is in charge of updates to GMS clearly had no clue how to handle the implementation of the elemental weapons in the first place with their proper positive and negative elemental attributes. They began with no bonuses at all, and it took over a month (I believe) of players submitting tickets to Nexon to get them to change them to their current state.

I'd be perfectly fine with the -25% not being there, if there was a better influx of the weapons currently. The gacha rate of these things has reeeeally slowed. I've waited almost 2 months now for another Wand5 in Mardia... and nothing. At this point I would gladly settle for a lvl103 fire staff, since I'm a luk archmage, but that's not available either. It's so bad, that I'm considering buying the only lvl 70 fire wand available since the +25% increase would just barely trump the MA lost switching from my current lvl 103 poison staff.

Anyway, although I doubt these weapons will be messed with anymore, I would not be surprised in the LEAST if all of a sudden, after one of the patches, all the elemental bonuses dissapear again. It's such a perfect thing that could happen considering their lack of knowledge updating this game...

Of course they complain. They ought to complain.

When archmages peach, bishops tell them to look at paladins.
When paladins peach, heroes tell them to look at shadowers.
When shadowers peach, NLs tell them to look at marksmen.
When marksmen peach, BMs tell them to look at archmages.

I personally don't think they will add the -25% penalty for Bishops. From what I've heard, they've already made it so that if an arch mage equips the wrong weapon for their element, they will receive the -25% penalty (can someone confirm?). It seems that if they were planning to add in the -25% penalty for Bishops, they would've done so already.

Do I think they should be nerfed for bishops? I honestly don't. It's not only because I'm a bishop either, although I do use an elemental wand now. I think that if nexon was going to add the -25% penalty for bishops, they should've done so in the beginning. If they did add the penalty now, there would be a lot of angry bishops to deal with. After all, we're maplers too and we spent just as much as any arch mage would spend on these wands.

Some would say it's our own fault for purchasing something that wasn't intended for us, but honestly, what would you do if everyone else was using these wands and you were considered weak compared to everyone else? I have no doubt that if the shoe was on the other foot, AM's would do the same thing. I waited 5-6 months before finally deciding that nexon wasn't going to fix this and things were as intended before purchasing one.

These weapons do a lot more for arch mages than they do for bishops. I see arch mages one hitting newties at Lv.150. I'm Level 191 and I still can't do that 100% of the time. I don't think that nexon should make a holy elemental wand, but I don't think they should add in the -25% penalty on these weapons with so many bishops currently holding them.

I don't know how it is in other servers, but in Broa pretty much every A/M that can afford one of these weapons has already got one. Most bishops prefer to buy the less wanted wands such as Poison and Thunder, because they are cheaper. If you are an Arch Mage, you probably want an Ice or Fire wand more than Thunder or Poison. The lack of these wands is not entirely bishops fault and neither is the fact that you can't afford one.

I honestly don't understand why arch mages are still complaining. In the beginning, I could understand them complaining because Bishops did nearly the same damage on neutral monsters as an arch mage, with half the MP cost, but now these wands have really boosted the power of Arch Mages. The power that a Bishop gets from these wands can't even come close to comparing to an arch mage with the 35% from Element Amp and the 25% from the wand. Arch Mages are still stronger than bishops and can now excel at popular training areas such as Newties and Skeles which is what I thought they were complaining over in the first place.

Why do you think bishops are out to get you? Are you that schizophrenic? How is buying a weapon that is available to everyone in the server greedy or selfish? How is it pushing down mages? (Not allowing you to raise up =/= pushing down) I think you are being selfish. Just because a weapon adds damage for a specific class doesn't mean only that class should use it. If that is how nexon wanted it, they would have made it unequippable for bishops.

Kay. For the sake of argument, lets say Nexon came out with a new claw that boosted attack by 50% (Dexless too, wouldn't put it past them.) and I made a Bandit. And for whatever reason put all my points into L7 and bought out all these ultra rare gach only claws with the money I "earned" from merchanting. Would it be fair for me to tell Sins to stop complaining/being greedy, and that if Nexon wanted them to have it exclusively that I would not be able to equip it?
(Answer the question, don't nitpick on whether or not this is possible.)

Sins should be thankful such a weapon exists. The fact that there exists an opportunity to possess such a weapon is already good enough. So it would be fair to tell Sins to stop complaining about other jobs having them.

If it were even possible to have a Sin exclusive item, of course only Sins should be allowed to equip them. Nobody says other classes can not train with a Claw if they are able to equip it. It is just a majority of their skills may not be used with a Claw. The time spent on leveling would also have an effect on the choices made regarding the weapon in question.

Anyway, I fail to see how this question would bring up any points as the circumstance in your scenario is different than the one discussed in this thread and therefore your question is off topic.

In my opinion, Nexon will not change the effect of the Element Weapons. They have already changed them once.

I never said all arch mages are complaining. When I said "they" I was referring to the ones in this thread and in game that constantly complain about the weapons not giving the -25%.
