Ask a Thief Thread.
66alex66 Wrote:So, how's everyone liking their Post-Justice thieves?

Muspelheim is retarded.

Carnival Edge is nice though.

Are you supposed to link assaulter into it? Do you jump while doing that? Ugh I miss BoT, and I miss assaulter jumping, but I like that my range went up almost 40%

I play it like my buccaneer. rush stuff together, boomerang step. all the other stuff is whatevers. I just miss being able to FJ + assaulter onto platforms if I fall off Frown

The playstyle is now something like a warrior playstyle instead of the FJ--> BS--> BoT--> BS--> F repeat. Kinda sucks cause it makes things feel a lot slower and blocky compared to the flowing playstyle Shads had before. -sigh- At least my range will go up like a ridiculous amount if they let me use the stupid free mastery book -____- I'm out dagger mastery and the other skill that gives like +30 attack or something. I have the skill points, just need the books =/

I do that at LHC with low levels, but when I train with high levels, they all kill it before I can even explode so I turn PP off. So my only options are linking BS+PS or BS+Steal, and steal is Pineapple

I don't think you should be using assassinate for training (not 100% sure though, since I'm assuming you'll max assassinate pretty late and maybe be in stronghold where you'll never need to use single target skills by then) and you don't need speed for bosses really.
As for how I like my thieves, I find wind charm quite useful on my NL, somewhat so-so about replacing avenger with shade split, annoyed by shadow star's having an actual delay, love my shad's DPS (near cap with assassinate using 5 orbs without darksight so I can keep my haste) and lastly I haven't really gotten around to my DB yet, but it didn't really change much yet.

That's why Stronghold is so much better. There's literally always something to kill.

While mobility in bosses is nice (HT and whatnot), it's not as big of a deal. My main complaints are with Dojo, where mobility matters and can knock some time off.

I have a few questions specifically for you, or rather, about your GoogleDoc Shadower combo document (this one)

For your "Bstep+CE+Nate+5KP" combo, what does the 5KP mean? Use nate only when you get to 5KP?

For your "Bstep+Nate+Dark Sight" combo, I'm assuming Dark Sight belongs between BStep and Nate in the macro?

Has anyone done calculations for best macros on mobs? Is it even necessary? Some people are saying to use Bstep+Steal, but this doesn't make any sense given that Carnival Edge gives about 0.8 of a ME, which seems like it would be far superior. For mobs do you just use Bstep+CE and ME when possible? I'm going to count out Muspelheim/Phase Dash because it's so impractical - either pushing mobs out of the way when you don't want them to be away, like at SH; or pushing you into the mob, making you take damage; or forcing you to jump+muspelheim, which is stupid.

Is Shadow Partner considered a summon for the purposes of character card? I need to make an S-rank Mechanic on my account for the buff duration, since Shadower Instinct is so annoying to manage, but I'm not sure if I need to make a Jett/Corsair to prolong SP as well.

Yes to both.

CE+BS, explode. At lower ranges, you could also throw in an Assassinate once you get to 5 KP. Phase Dash is stupid. Damage calculations aren't really needed.

Don't know about Shadow Partner though.

Shadow Partner is now 70% of what you are.

He's asking about character card bonuses. In particularly, if SP is affected by summon duration or buff duration boosts.

For the love of god this was not even close to answering his question.

Cross off b. The 15% buff duration from my Mech didn't increase SP's duration.

But did it increase the other buffs?

Actually, checking with other buffs, it does seem to increase the duration. I'm not sure about MW since it lasts so long, but I can at least confirm that the buff duration did have somewhat of an effect on SP, Claw Booster, Haste, Shadow Stars, Dark Serenity, and Purge Area. I'm only using the Windows clock time, so it may be off by a few seconds or so.

Though, raising a Jett is not a bad idea. The core aura can give really sick amounts of stat.

Don't forget Striker. Character card stack with striker gives a really good boost.
Although I'm not sure what character yields the best +all stats.

Bucc and Thunder Breaker gives totally and utterly worthless card bonuses. They increase your damage based on your characters lvl, so a lvl 200 bucc would not even add 1k extra damage per hit.
