Renting a room in a hotel? Need info.

Oh, let's say I'm going from ... Pennsylvania to Montreal, Quebec around the end of June 2009. When should I reserve my airplane ticket (with hotel!!)? Also, if I was to rent a room in a hotel, and my girlfriend wants to get in. Do I need to pay for a 2nd person? Or does she only need the key to my room? I always wondered about this, since I have only been to a hotel ONCE in the past (and that was in 7th grade.. which was 7 years ago..).

Also, I noticed prices for airplane tickets from here to there, including hotel costs are around 650 - 1000 (+) for about 4 days or so, seems cheap (at PriceLine.com <3)!

You should try to reserve both several months ahead of time. Also, where are you that it costs $650-1000 for the flight and hotel. I know the hotel should cost 200-400. Flight seems expensive to me.

Really want to know? Well, let's say going from Pittsburgh's airport to Montreal's airport. =X I checked a lot of websites, cheapest I've seen was 650 for 4 days with hotel and flight, and back. Several months ahead though~? Ew... looks like I need to save a shitload then.. >_>

Only reason I'm saying is because you can often get a flight to a nearby city for much cheaper than your destination. Also, are you flying direct, or having stop-overs, because that will also affect your pricing. One nice thing about airlines is that you can often buy a ticket that doesn't ensure you a seat (most of the time seats are available) that will get you there for a lot less, but I can't remember the term used for those seats.

Also, your girlfriend can just call you and you can let her in, or you can arrange for a key to be left for her at the reception desk of the hotel. No, you don't need to pay for a second person. Hotels are based on a per-room basis, not per-person.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the day you leave/return will also impact the cost of your flight. If you choose to leave or return on a weekend day, it will cost substantially more than if you were to leave and return on a weekday.

2nd Edit: I know busing sucks and that it's slow, but you can take a bus from Pittsburgh to Montreal for $170 round trip if you book a week ahead of time. Yeah, that's a long bus ride, but its also cheaper than any flight.

You just need to buy the room that's capable of holding two people and get two room keys.

Oooh, okay thanks. And apparently, for round-trips from here to Montreal, there isnt exactly a "1 way" trip, so I have to make stops. Airplane = 3.5 hours or so.

Bus is like.. almost an entire day, not exaggerating, I tried looking that up. Yes, bus is much cheaper though. As for hotel costs, I figured something. Booking hotel rooms online is faster and easier, but it's also MUCH more expensive.

I'm planning to just wait until the economy gets better (I HOPE!), and reserve my airplane ticket on April. Once I get to Montreal, I'll just find a hotel there. It shouldn't be too hard, I'm actually planning to find a hotel in Laval to be highly accurate and detailed.
