Well seeing Amon first works it does seem like it takes way longer than now and pretty much all of his victims are somewhat terrified.

If anyone read the manga Iris Zero, there is a similar scenario which I was thinking could be the same as the reason they lost their bending.

On Airbending: "The "Avatar Extras" stated that all Air Nomads are airbenders. This would make the Nomads the only group with every individual being a bender. The creators also explain this is due to bending coming from spirituality."

it was also mentioned in the series, by the way.. once you're born, you're brought to different temples based on your gender and then you are assigned to a monk who is in charge of you as a guardian... in aang's case, gyatso.

also just a side-info, more benders are born during their respective seasons, like more firebenders are born, with the avatar having a higher chance to be born in the fire nation or i guess in korra's more globalized world, fire bender parent/s in summer.

Except that many times Toph had to touch the ground with her hands to detect things, to sense hidden structures and the like. She didn't just stand there and go "Oh there's tunnels down there!" She used her hands as well to gain extra sensing.

It doesn't really ally to all minor characters in movies/books/shows. Most of the time they are not forcibly removed of their abilities, they just choose to go separate ways.

There were times where she was just standing there and reveal some hidden something. But again, my point is that Toph rarely had to use heavy blows to the ground to detect things. Yeah, she felt around on the ground. In the last episode she felt the ground to find the White Lotus coming. She felt Combustion Man coming with her hands. My argument is that she didn't have to strike the ground (a la Lin's style) to detect it. The one time, off the top of my head, I can remember he striking the ground was when she discovered metalbending.

Lost his bending -> went separate ways anyways. Whatever his name was, was the only one who I could probably even consider being a real major protagonist. Everyone else was just a supporting character (Metalbending Officers, Triple Threat or whatever they were).

I get what your point is, but what I'm trying to point out is that the Metal Bending police seemingly purposely handicap themselves with disadvantages that Toph never had in the original series. She never had metal plates on her hands and feet, which would dull one's ability to sense with Earthbending.

Yes, Lin slams her foot into the ground, but this is after lifting it to open the metal plate. As I mentioned earlier, it would be more difficult to open it while your feet are still in the ground. Plus, slamming your foot into the ground would likely increase the ability's effectiveness (Regardless of how good you are with it, increasing it is increasing it). Plus, Lin used one foot, while Toph always had two; another increase in the ability. Toph used her hands as well, which once again increased the effectiveness of the ability. Lin only ever used one foot.

I honestly think you're looking too much into it when you mention she slams her foot on the ground. I'm almost positive Lin was shown doing that just for the BAMF feel.

On he metalbending thing:

I think Lin had to ground pound because she isn't nearly as sensitive as Toph was. Toph pretty much used seismic sense her entire life to "see", which is likely how she can detect so easily (even without a ground pound). It's so ingrained in her way of life that it's practically second nature for her to continuously use it. However, people like Lin, while they know about it, aren't exactly using it 24/7; like everything else, the technique has retained it's high master level, unlike lightning bending. They probably use the ground pound to create a larger seismic wave to make it more pronounce to them. Toph could easily have done the same thing, but she's more likely to be extremely sensitive to every single small movement that causes a vibration and wouldn't need a big huge seismic wave to sense things.

Also they probably wear shoes cause they're like humans in real life. People don't go walking barefoot on sidewalks. I'm sure they could use seismic sensing with shoes on, but it's probably easier to sense without shoes. Hence why toph is barefoot all the time.

Well they are a police force. Just because they're the police force doesn't mean they're the best and brightest. They have disadvantages Toph never had in the original series because it's in a complete different setting than the original series. Not to mention Toph would never cover her feet anyways. Even in the flashbacks in LoK, she is shown barefoot.

You don't need to raise your foot that high off the ground to take off a little metal covering. It would increase the effectiveness of the seismic sense, and I also think that's important to note because it shows that Lin isn't Toph. And I think that's very important because Toph was just a completely unique Earthbender. Period. (More evidence can be seen in the fact that she uses a different style of Kung Fu as well).

Even if Lin had dodged the Chi Blocker attack, defeated them, and then took down the airship, what would happen next? I'm fairly certain Lin "expected" to lose her bending no matter what happened.

Amon is actually taking the bending abilities of others for himself. Like, he took Tarrlok's bending, right? What if that scene from the trailer with Mako is actually Amon blood bending him with the power he stole from Tarrlok?
