I haven't watched it yet but it's all over Tumblr. THIS EPISODE IS GOING TO MAKE ALL THE FEELS HAPPEN. :<

Due the fact that Amon's "Energy Bending" doesn't even touch both of the same points as Aang's Energy Bending did, I would be willing to bet it's an imperfect method. I imagine it just "hard blocks" their chi or closes one of their chakras so they can't bend.

I seriously can't wait until next week. Today's episode was full of suprises (not really but really anticipating stuff.) I really didn't expect the airbending kids to really fight but... YYDGSDGHSKJKSDGKJSD OMGICAN'TWAIT

Tenzin Finally got revenge and Wow WHY DID SHE HAVE TO LOSE HER BENDING !!!! One of my favorite characters and I'm sure others too..I really do hope she comes back next season like everyone else is saying :/ ...but When the airbender kids fought !!!! They kicked ASS! lol. Oh and the ending !!! Finally someone from Zuko's side of the family This season finale is going to be amazing I cant wait !!! This whole episode was just a Amazing/Sad at the same time.

Someone on another site found the possible chakra points Amon is using to "take away" people's bending:

Sound Chakra: Located in the throat: Deals with truth and is blocked by lies, the ones we tell ourselves.

Light Chakra: Located in the center of the forehead: Deals with insight and is blocked by illusions.

Though I don't see how those correlate with no more bending though.

The lieutenant guy is kind of useless. He was only cool in episode 3 when he electrocuted Mako and Bolin.

How many times will Lieutenant "die"? Because srsly, that guy has done just about everything now.

lol @ Meelo's fartbending. Twas truly a unique style of airbending.

On the season finale: I feel like Korra will get caught and Amon will try to take away her bending but either back-up will arrive, she'll go into the Avatar state, or there's some weird deus-ex device that makes it so the Avatar can't lose his/her bending as they're like the personification of bending or something cheesy. I'm so excited for it! But all the feels will happen. I know they will.

In other words, is he blocking people bending out of fear?
Well seeing Amon first works it does seem like it takes way longer than now and pretty much all of his victims are somewhat terrified.

Actually, the blocking of the chakras sounds viable. Considering he's blocking the chakra for "insight", it's possible he's causing people to believe the illusion that he's created- that their bending is "gone". Some intense chi-blocking right there.
