Just my luck i guess.

I'd like to know how Nexon is determining who gets what amount of compensation (if at all).

I think it's a random range of Maple Points from 5k-250k.

Looks like it is just plain pot luck. If you get a new and slightly more competent GM you get compensation, if you get an old incompetent GM you get nothing but scorn.

Well my ticket sounds a little angry.. mainly because writing about the entire incident and the WONDERFUL experience I had with their p.o.s. CSR team put me in a foul mood.

I basically described to them what I experienced, why their package was unacceptable, and how I spent more on item locks than they even gave me back in MP/NX.
Hopefully they want to make it right. I am attempting to give them a chance to make things right with me, if not that's not a huge deal I'm going to have my account deleted from their crappy services.

Logging in to empty the trading storage really reminded me of why I grew to hate their team and that game in general.

Nexon Wrote:Hello, I am sorry to hear that your account was compromised. I understand how upsetting this is, and I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this issue has caused you.

I understand that you worked hard to obtain the Mesos and items that were lost. Unfortunately, we are not able to recover the lost Mesos and items; however, as a token of thanks for being a loyal player, we have gifted your account with 250,000 MaplePoints to help you recover.

Please allow 24 hours for the MaplePoints to be available on your account. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding.

Your account may have been compromised by a malicious web site designed to steal account information. A keylogger may also have been installed on your computer. I highly recommend that you run a virus and spyware scan in order to make sure that there are no malicious programs or keyloggers installed.

Once you've scanned your computer, I suggest that you change the password to your account for added security. Please refer to our Security FAQ for further details on how to avoid getting "hacked" or scammed. You can find this valuable information here:

Still waiting on a response for a ticket I submitted nearly half a year ago.

You realize no game is hackproof, right?

Did you update the ticket with a comment or resubmit a new ticket? Those seem to be the golden trick that's getting people responses, not waiting on old tickets.

You realize Nexon is the only multi-million dollar company whose games have a history of being completely overridden by hacks and hackers. No game is hackproof, but no other game has this much problems relating to hacks as this one. Doesn't that tell you something? I just can't understand why people stand by such an obviously inept company.

IJJI and Gunz.
Yes, Nexon has a very poor reputation with their games and hackers, but him saying that Nexon should first make it so the game / accounts can't be hacked is an impossible scenario.

Pretty much this.

The sad thing is, If Nexon had the hindsight for when they were creating this game to realize that a Client-heavy game is NOT a good idea, We'd barely have half the problems we have now. All these problems just scream of a company that grew way too fast and don't know how to deal with it. I dont think they ever expected Maplestory to be as popular as it is.

MS is one of the most popular free MMOs worldwide making it one of the most prime targets for hacking, lets look at a better company Blizzard's D3 has a worse track record then MS has considering that all the hacks from MS worked on D3, remote hack, dupeing, ectect

The problem lies in Wizet. If NEXON never came around Maple would not exist. Wizet was the original makers of the game and gave it to NEXON as a saving grace. Honestly I think you're right NEXON didn't know when they took over Wizet that it would be this popular. I wonder how hard it would be to recode the game without losing so much..

Oh God.
Not the Wizet and Nexon shit.

Never heard of those. But I probably should have said 'Billions' instead of 'millions'... Yes, Nexon has made Billions.
Dark Link Wrote:...him saying that Nexon should first make it so the game / accounts can't be hacked is an impossible scenario.
How is it an impossible scenario (at this point at least)? Propositions:

For preventing in-game map/item/meso/NX hacking:
-Hire 100+ American workers to be competent GMs. Your budget can easily handle it.
-Test your content thoroughly (hire more if needed). It's due to them not testing whatsoever that exploit after exploit has been arising.
-Slow down content patches and instead focus on security patches, and using resources on bargain pitfalled hackshield companies does not qualify.
-Make Code server-sided and/or recode the game in Java and hook it to the same database. Again, their budget can handle this.
-Afraid you'll lose players if you shut the game down for 1-2 months to improve it? Release an alternate game which offers link skills or some other variant to help your characters while they cannot be accessible.

For account hacking prevention/security:
-Free item locks. This should come standard.
-Allow the option of cell phone text verification before logging in. If they can allow texting verification for paypal payments, they can do the same for logging in.
-Allow optional IP tracking (an option to make sure it is you who is logging in and where that is). Sure, IPs can be spoofed but this will probably weed out the script kiddies at least.
-characters over a certain level (18x+?) should not be delete-able (end-dateable yes, but not delete-able).
-make game pay-to-play. This will make all users less anonymous and easier for cheaters to get caught.

This is all completely feasible for a company with millions to spend.

While Nexon and Wizet were originally seperate companies, They have now become one company that publishes Maplestory. Most employees that were with Wizet now work at Nexon, Essentially its still the same people working on the game. They are not seperate entities anymore.
