Since we're all Homestuck fans in this thread, I figure I'd ask here.
ACEN has already re-buried itself into my head. This time I'm pondering a scenario where I'd go as John Egbert. The only thing though, I will only go as John if I can make THIS hammer. The TELESCOPIC SASSACRUSHER. Yeeeeeeees.
Now the rules on the site say exactly this:
" Is greater than your height in length when broken down.
~ Props must be approximately your height or less in length. (If you are under four feet (4) tall, your prop may be up to four feet (4) long.)"
and straight from an Admin as of April 28, 2011:
http://www.acen.org/forums/index.php/top...checklist/
"The Prop Acceptability Checklist
If you can answer yes to any of the following questions, the prop is not allowed.
Is the prop longer than the congoer's height when carried, if the congoer is at least 4 feet tall?
Is the prop longer than 4 feet when carried, if the congoer is less than 4 feet tall?"
Since I'm nearly 6 feet (~5'11"), I can safely get away with up to 5'~5' 6" prop parts. I figure PVC piping that can be unscrewed can work perfectly for the telescope bits.
Now to think, do you guys think this prop will be allowed at all, given how ludicrously huge it'll be when assembled? Since I plan to keep it roughly IN SCALE with John's body, this monster of a hammer will be at LEAST a good 12~15 feet. Then there's the matter of how to make the hammer bits (the hugeass cubes). Any ideas on making hollow, yet light cubes? FOR THE HAMMER CUBES, I believe they'd consider the longest dimension, for example measuring the cube DIAGONALLY may count towards the size limit. From what I found, a 4'x4'x4' cube is a LITTLE over 6', which means at most I should make the cubes about 3.5'~3.75' to play it safe. Not sure if they will be anal about 5' PVC pipes and measure those diagonally too.
As for storing the prop when not posing, I do aim to be able to place all the pieces on my back when I'm not posing for a picture. I also plan to either create either "Fear No Anvil" and possibly the "Wrinklef'ucker" so I can always be dual wielding. As for those 2.... I still gonna wonder where the hell I'll be holding THOSE props if my back will already be holding the SASSACRUSHER.
This is all brainstorming though, since I got a good 11+ months this time to plan things out.
